⛏️ Helping the next generation find their path into mining.

Students on the October 2026 Get Into Mining Camp, run by the WA Mining Club, recently visited our Pinjarra workshops to see just how many different pathways the industry has to offer.

From hands-on trades in our mechanical, electrical and fabrication workshops to roles supporting operations out on site, the visit gave students a closer look at the opportunities available and what a career in mining could look like.

With so many skills and roles needed to keep the industry moving, there are opportunities for people with all kinds of interests and ambitions.

Thanks to the WA Mining Club for organising the camp and helping introduce the next generation to the opportunities available across our industry.

There’s no better way to understand underground mining than to see it for yourself.

A couple of weeks ago, our Senior Marketing & Events Coordinator Shanae and Events Coordinator Ashley headed to the Goldfields to spend some time on site and get a closer look at the industry we work in every day.

The team visited Murray Engineering maintenance and repair contract teams at two sites, getting a look at the work our crews are carrying out across the region.

They also had the opportunity to head underground at one of the sites, escorted by the shift boss, to experience the working environment below ground and see the range of activities involved in keeping an underground operation moving.

One of the highlights was getting into the cabin of one of our hire drills with the operator and seeing drilling up close. For our Marketing and Events team, visits like this are a great opportunity to build a better understanding of the people, equipment and environments behind the industry we support.

A big thank you to the teams who took the time to show Shanae and Ash around and give them a glimpse into life underground in the Goldfields.

That’s a wrap on the last WA School of Mines Alumni Kalgoorlie Sundowner of 2026!

Our team was out in force on Tuesday, catching up with the local mining community and WASM students who came along to hear about JumboGuard and JumboVision- the automatic boom isolation system for underground drill rigs.

Nathan Bradshaw gave a fantastic presentation and explained precisely why these systems are so important in preventing drill boom entanglement.

The announcement of JumboVision has been a significant milestone for the team, adding another layer of protection through three AI cameras that capture personnel movement from multiple angles around the drill rig.

A big thank you to WASMA for having us and to everyone who came along on the night. We’d also like to thank the WASMA team for putting together another great Sundowner program throughout 2026.

We’re proud to support WASMA and the local mining community in Kalgoorlie, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone again at the upcoming Gala Dinner.

🎉 Apprenticeship Complete! 🎉

A huge congratulations to Reefe Morgan on officially completing his Auto-Electrical Apprenticeship! 🔧⚡

Over the past four years, Reefe has put in an incredible amount of hard work, dedication and effort to reach this milestone. From balancing his technical studies with hands-on training to continually developing his skills, Reefe has grown into a highly skilled and valued member of our team.

Throughout his apprenticeship, Reefe has also shown a great willingness to step up and get involved in site work, taking every opportunity to gain experience and support the wider team. His commitment and willingness to get stuck in have certainly not gone unnoticed.

Now, with his apprenticeship officially complete, Reefe will continue his journey with Murray Engineering as a Qualified Auto Electrician within our Mechanical team.

We’re incredibly proud to have been part of Reefe’s journey from apprentice to qualified tradesman and look forward to seeing him continue to grow and build his career with us.

A big congratulations to Dillon Boynes on completing his Welding Supervisor Certificate 10. 👏

Dillon joined Murray Engineering in October 2024 as a Boilermaker/Welder. When the opportunity came up to step into the Welding Supervisor role, Dillon put his hand up, went through the interview process, and was successful.

He then started working towards his AS 1796 Certificate 10, completing six months of training and study to achieve his welding supervisor certification. We were pleased to support Dillon throughout his training and give him the opportunity to further develop his skills in the role.

We’d like to pass on our sincere congratulations to Dillon for the effort and commitment he’s put into getting this over the line. It’s great to see our people putting their hand up for new opportunities and continuing to build their skills along the way.

A huge congratulations to Tate Catherall on officially completing his Auto-Electrical Apprenticeship! 🔧⚡

After four years of learning, developing his skills and gaining hands-on experience, Tate has reached an exciting milestone and is now a Qualified Auto Electrician.

Tate will be continuing his journey with Murray Engineering, stepping into his new role within our Mechanical team.
