Rebate Armageddon is coming! This December, the solar rebate and battery rebate both reduce at the same time.

If you’re already planning solar, a battery, or both, waiting until next year could mean receiving less rebate support. And with the Christmas rush approaching, installation spots may become harder to secure.

Buying an EV? Make sure you charge it smartly. An EV can save you thousands on petrol, but the real win comes from charging it at home with your own solar power.

Solar generates energy during the day, while a battery can store that power so you can charge your EV when it suits you, without relying as much on expensive grid electricity.

If you want lower running costs now and into the future, solar and battery can make your EV even smarter.

☀️ **IMPORTANT SOLAR NOTICE – TUESDAY 25 AUGUST**

SA Power Networks will be carrying out its annual **Smarter Homes Solar Curtailment Test tomorrow, Tuesday 25 August**.

Around **100,000 solar systems across South Australia** may be temporarily affected.

During the test, you may notice:

⚡ Your solar system temporarily stops generating
⚡ Solar production drops to **0 kW**
⚡ Your system temporarily stops exporting to the grid
⚡ Your monitoring app shows unusual solar/export behaviour

**This does not necessarily mean there is a fault with your solar system.**

SAPN is testing its ability to remotely reduce rooftop solar generation during a rare electricity system security emergency. Participating systems will be reduced to 0 kW and then instructed to reconnect automatically.

The curtailment is expected to last **less than one hour**, and SAPN advises that the test will be completed by sunset.

✅ **What should you do?**

In most cases, nothing. Allow your system to reconnect automatically.

SAPN recommends checking your inverter or monitoring app again on **Wednesday 26 August**.

If your solar system has **not returned to normal by Wednesday**, please contact the Generate Energy team and we can investigate further.

Please feel free to share this post with other SA solar owners so they don't mistake tomorrow's test for a system failure.

Already got solar? It might be time to finish the job. A big solar system does the hard work during the day, but without a battery, many homes still go back to buying expensive grid power at night.

A battery stores your excess solar so you can use more of your own energy after sunset, reduce reliance on retailers, and protect yourself from rising evening power prices. With the federal battery rebate available, now is a smart time to look at adding storage.

In Memory of Brett Santini

1 June 1970 – 17 June 2026

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our much-loved colleague and friend, Brett Santini.

Brett joined Generate Energy in 2022 as a Sales Consultant, helping customers find solar and battery solutions that could make a real difference to their energy costs. He genuinely loved his work and found great reward in helping others.

After being diagnosed with cancer last year, Brett showed incredible strength and dedication. Even when he could no longer get around easily, he continued working from home, and sometimes from his hospital bed, right up until his final days.

Brett was also a passionate North Adelaide Roosters and Adelaide Crows supporter and an outstanding footy tipster. Competing as RoosterRampage, he won our company competition twice and finished in ESPN’s national top 100 last year.

We are grateful that Brett’s passing was peaceful and without pain. He will be greatly missed by everyone at Generate Energy.

Our heartfelt condolences are with Brett’s family and loved ones.

Rest peacefully, Brett. You will never be forgotten.

Got an older solar system? It might be time for a refresh. Many older systems were designed for a different time, before EVs, batteries, higher air con use, and today’s bigger household energy demand.

Modern panels can deliver far more power from the same roof space, helping you properly charge a battery and bring back stronger savings. Make sure your solar is built for today’s energy needs.

Electricity prices only seem to go one way — up. With higher tariffs, rising infrastructure costs, and more pressure on households, relying fully on the grid is getting harder every year.

A quality solar and battery system lets you generate, store, and use your own power day and night, helping protect your home from future price rises. With solar and battery rebates available, now is the time to take control.

Your solar works during the day, but your biggest usage is at night. Without a battery, you’re pushed back onto the grid when power is most expensive.

A home battery stores your excess solar and powers your home after sunset, helping cut your bills. With the federal battery rebate, upgrading is now easier than ever.

Are you giving your solar away during the day, then buying it back at night? That’s the reality of today’s low feed-in tariffs.

A home battery stores your excess solar so you can use it after sunset instead of paying peak electricity prices. With the federal battery rebate, thousands in savings are now available, making batteries more affordable than ever.
