Maritime Constructions Takes the Win!

We’re thrilled to announce that our Carnarvon Dredging and Babbage Island Spit Stabilisation project has won the prestigious 2024 WA Earth Awards!

This transformative initiative revitalises the Carnarvon Fishing Boat Harbour and the Fascine Entrance, ensuring vital access for local fishermen and recreational vessels.
Located 475 km north of Geraldton, Carnarvon faced significant challenges due to erosion and siltation, which had restricted access to the waterways for six years. Our team leveraged advanced monitoring techniques, like aerial imagery and bathymetric surveys, to tackle these coastal processes head-on.

In collaboration with the passionate Carnarvon community, who rallied for a “Free the Fascine” initiative, we’ve successfully executed a multifaceted program aimed at restoring safe, reliable ocean access.

This project not only revitalises a key asset for the town but also strengthens the connection between the community and the coast.
We’re proud to contribute to the resilience and growth of Carnarvon, ensuring its waterways remain accessible for generations to come. A huge congratulations to our team for taking out the win!

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who worked on this project,
and for their relentless efforts throughout. Well done to all!

Happy Friday

We are pleased to announce that minor repair works are well underway at the Tumby Bay Jetty. We have worked with the District Council of Tumby Bay recently to identify an economical solution that will re-open the jetty to the public for the next 18 months. MC have generously donated labour and plant to complete the works within council budget with the scope of the repair resulting in a maximum 2.5Kpa deck load, satisfying pedestrian loading. The solution is only short-term and will allow the council and the state government additional time to work on a more permanent solution.

We look forward to continuing our work with local and state governments on other jetties in need around the state. Jetties are the life blood of tourism in our South Australia coastal towns, and we are committed to assisting where required to ensure that these historic structures are not lost.

We would also like to extend our thanks to the local Tumby Bay Progress Association and surrounding small businesses, for the warm welcome and generous donations of food and drink while on-site.

We do amazing work in amazing locations.
Maritime Constructions = Great place to work.

We recently upgraded Maritime Constructions Pty Ltd's dredge from Trimble HydroPro to the latest Trimble Marine Construction System.

This update enables the team to achieve greater accuracy and real-time 3D visualisation, improving dredging predictability and precision for their work on coastal dredging around WA.

📷 Pictured here is Peter, our Senior Support Technician with Andrew, IT Manager at Maritime Constructions.

Trimble Marine Construction Systems are highly-accurate, real-time positioning systems that enable marine contractors to dredge and construct with precision using backhoe excavator, clamshell crane, cutter suction, bucket and trailing suction hopper dredges.

Great work to everyone involved.

We’ve ticked off ✔️ another milestone in the construction of Kangaroo Island’s new desalination plant, with three large underwater pipelines now in place off the coast of Penneshaw. 💧

Taking five hours to tow across from Kingscote using a barge, the 200-metre-long pipelines will draw seawater for treatment into safe, clean drinking water for our local customers.
