COMPACT HOME DESIGN & CONSTRUCT COMPLETION

The compact size of this sustainable home we recently completed in Port Fairy takes its cue from the township’s early cottages.

Complementing Port Fairy’s historic weatherboard dwellings, and to provide the same long-term durability, the home is clad with shale grey weatherboards and roof cladding also aptly named, surfmist.

Tailored for modern comfort, the interior floorplan is designed to maximise space, natural light, storage and indoor-outdoor connection.

Key design features include:
-Orientation to bring in natural light
-Windows that frame views of sky and greenery
-Glazed doors that open out onto the deck, providing an ‘outdoor room’
-Integrated joinery such as the curved banquet seating wrapping around the island bench
-Generous storage
-Minimalist and neutral palette throughout featuring timber flooring
-Pergola made from Australian spotted gum timber.

Rockface limestone from BRUHN South Australia is one of the striking materials featured at our client’s Yarpturk residence.

As a natural, locally sourced, sustainable material, each block has its own unique character adding to the material and home’s timeless, visual aesthetic.

Precision and attention to detail is integral to the installation process as shown by our skilled installers NJ & KL Fary Bricklaying 🧱

PROJECT MILESTONE NEWS - We’re delighted to have handed over this newly completed custom design and built home for our clients on Port Fairy’s south beach.
With hardy polished concrete floors throughout, its streamlined design and natural colour palette echoes the white sand, volcanic rocks and dune vegetation of the seaside location. The single level floorplan is orientated to bathe the spaces in natural light, provide cross ventilation and seamless indoor and outdoor connectivity. Our clients will reap the benefits of excellent thermal comfort and low maintenance living courtesy of the floor plan, material selection and crafted detail in the construction as showcased in the kitchen.

This bespoke solid American White Oak joinery has been custom made and hand polished in Portland by Christopher Williamson for a new residence we’re building in Hamilton. It’s great to be working with skilled local artisans.

The timber island bench is a stunning feature element that further adds to the home’s crafted quality and will soon serve as its central hub.
