CHIEF ENGINEER WANTED
Based in Port Lincoln, South Australia, Australian Fishing Enterprises is the largest exporter of Southern Bluefin tuna in Australia. We have operations in Tuna Fish farming, Tuna Processing, Shipyards, Truck and Shore Support and property and with around 250 employees are one of Port Lincolns leading employers.

THE JOB
AFE are seeking a Chief Engineer (MED I or international equivalent) to join our Purse Seine fishing vessel "Maria Luisa". Our fishing operations include both Southern Bluefin tuna and Sardines, with fishing to occur, but not limited to December to July annually. This is a hands-on position which reports to the Captain and will be responsible for the safe mechanical operations of the vessel ensuring all repairs are conducted safely and efficiently. Your role will include, but not limited too:-

- Working onboard during port calls to ensure the vessel is prepared for fishing.
- Ensure the vessel leaves port fully bunkered, watered and in sound operational condition.
- Ensure the engine room and all mechanical, fuel, water, electrical and refrigeration systems are monitored and maintained and logbooks are kept updated.
- Ensure that an inventory of spare parts is maintained onboard and replacements ordered after use.
- Notify AFE’s Wildcatch Managers of mechanical incidents and potential incidents in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure the vessel is always a safe working environment and the vessel safety systems and equipment are in good working order.
- Undertake at sea general maintenance and repairs of plant & equipment as required.

REMUNERATION
As a crewshare fisherman you will receive a handsome remuneration based on a share of the catch arrangement.

WHAT YOU NEED
- Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 Near Coastal or international equivalent.
- Previous fishing experience is essential.
- Have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team with excellent communication and problem solving skills.
- To be a resident of/or be prepared to relocate to Port Lincoln region.
