Two shout-outs from us.

Harry Gabriel — welcome to System Sound. First show with us, running the radio mics at the Maj, and running them well. Good to have you aboard.

Paul Hitchens — nearly four decades of involvement with System Sound, from radio mics on Pirates of Penzance 1989 to mixing this one, with John beside him at the desk, same as ever.

Death of a Salesman opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday night — Anthony LaPaglia back as W***y Loman, and the Maj packed to the roof for it. A return season, because Melbourne wasn’t done with this one.

The Jellicle moon rises over Hong Kong 🌕 Cats has opened — with sound design by our own Dave Greasley for System Sound, and a brilliant team behind the console making it sing night after night.
We’ve been part of the Cats story for over four decades — design, support, equipment and crew since the show first came to Australia, and across many of its international tours since. Proud to be supporting this production as it travels the world.

Two fantastic shows opened last night, one in each city, and choosing which to celebrate first was impossible — so we didn’t. In Sydney, Fiddler on the Roof opened its Australian premiere season at the Theatre Royal. The last time we did this show, Topol was Tevye — twenty years ago, 2006!

Owen Arnold heads the department, and Declan Acton steps up as Deputy Head of Sound on his first major production — a milestone he’s well and truly earned. Blake Aldridge, a Sydney favourite of ours going back five years, returns as stage technician and will tour with the show.

David L**h is our Associate Sound Designer, and designer Nick Lidster travelled out from London for the season. Nick’s name has been part of our world for thirty years through our long association with Autograph — and last night we finally put a handshake to it. Long overdue. It goes all the way back, 1989 Les Mis.

The production runs on a KV2 system with a DiGiCo SD7T Quantum at front of house.

Opening night last night!

The Book of Mormon is back, now at QPAC’s new Glasshouse Theatre, and it’s lovely to have this one in the family again. We looked after the original Australian tour, and two of that team have returned with it: Louise Hall, who mixed the show the first time around, is our Production Sound Engineer, and Dave Greasley is back as Associate Sound Designer.

Around them, Nathan Santamaria heads the department with PJ Reed as deputy, Brooke Simmons keeps everything running backstage, and we welcome Ryan Werda to the company — an experienced engineer joining us on radio mics, and a very good get.

As Australia’s only Australian-owned commercial musical theatre sound company, we’re blessed to have some of the finest emerging talent in the country doing their best work on these new productions.

The show sits on Meyer Sound Leopard and Lina arrays with a DiGiCo SD7T Quantum at front of house.

The crates from Melbourne are open, and Sunset Boulevard is going up at Tokyu Theatre Orb.

We’ve sent our best. Dave Greasley, Dave Letch and Chris Pratt are on the ground, and the show is in very good hands.

Thank you to the sound crew at Theatre Orb for the welcome they’ve given our team — we love working in Japan, and weeks like this are why.

🎻 Back on the roof.

System Sound is proud to announce that we have once again been selected as sound providers for Fiddler on the Roof, returning to a production that holds a special place in our company’s history.

The last time we supplied audio for Fiddler on the Roof was in 2006. Two decades later, we’re honoured to be supporting this iconic musicals once again as it returns to Australian stages.

Final performance tonight for Stella at Monash.

A huge congratulations to the cast, crew and creative team on a successful season.

It was a pleasure for System Sound to support the production, with Sound Design by David Letch and front of house expertly handled by Owen Arnold.

Special mention to Ella L**hte, who took on her first radio mic role on a show called Stella and proved to be absolutely stellar. 🙌
