‘We’ are Pete Newma
n and Tuc Malone. Pete lives in Pottsville (near Byron Bay) and Tuc lives in Modanville (near Lismore), in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Our story goes like this: Tuc became involved in the solar generation industry several years ago. He supplied commercial scale systems for businesses with a high constant load – like hotels, clubs and butchers – using the PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) funding model. Over the years he developed an intimate understanding of solar generation systems, and also got to know who is who in the industry in the Northern Rivers – learning who to trust while watching the dodgy operators come and go. Pete comes from a health and fitness background, working for many years as a personal trainer and exercise therapist. He is a published author (Eat, Move & Thrive: the 5 secrets of very healthy people) – and a complete health nut. Tuc and Pete got together after a long discussion about climate change and saving the world for their young children. Over a period of a couple of years Solar Electrique evolved as their commitment to make a difference – saving the climate one rooftop at a time. However this evolution was influenced by the growing awareness of just how many crooked operators there are in the solar market place and how mistrusting consumers of solar were as a result of this. This finally led to the current position of Solar Electrique as a ‘Solar Consumer Advocate’.
