A recurring theme at Sydney’s Cloud & Datacenter Convention was the critical role of the physical infrastructure that underpins digital transformation. As AI workloads continue to accelerate, scaling power, cooling, connectivity and operational resilience is becoming just as important as the compute itself.

Topics ranged from AI-ready infrastructure and high-density compute environments to power availability, sustainability, connectivity, and the growing importance of trust and community engagement.

In an interview with our own thought leader, Brendan Dessent, head of Legrand’s data centre solutions business and CEO/Founder of CRS, one message came through clearly: AI is fundamentally reshaping how data centres are designed, built and operated.

In Brendan’s expert opinion, the traditional distinction between white space and grey space is changing. Today's infrastructure decisions are increasingly being driven at the rack level, where higher-density AI workloads demand new approaches to power distribution, cooling and connectivity.

From liquid-to-chip cooling and intelligent power delivery to greater real-time monitoring and modular construction, operators are being challenged to build infrastructure that can anticipate future demand, not simply respond to it.
