What a huge weekend for Dungog Pedalfest! 🚲

The revamped three-day cycling festival brought the NSW Cycle Speedway State Championships to Dungog Showground, along with penny farthing events and the Scones, Jam and Cream ride for those less tempted by speed.

It was a fantastic mix of serious competition and good old community fun.

Festival proceeds went towards supporting Dungog Palliative Care and the Dungog Youth Initiative, giving the whole weekend a great cause behind the racing.

HVO was proud to support this year's event with an in-kind donation of marquees, banners, A-frame signs for traffic control, and merch for the raffles.

Heads up, pet owners!

If you live near or visit the Hunter Valley Operations area, please keep your dogs close to home from 19 October to 13 November.

HVO is running its autumn 1080 wild dog and fox baiting program across our land and surrounding biodiversity offset areas, to help protect native wildlife and support local farmers.

The baits used won't harm native animals, but they can affect domestic pets and working dogs.

So for the next few weeks, keep your furry mates on the lead and away from HVO land. Please note that surrounding mine sites will also undertake similar baiting programs during the same period. If you think your pet may have been exposed, get to a vet straight away.

Celebrating 100 years of Mines Rescue in the Hunter 👷‍♂️🚒

HVO was proud to host the Hunter Valley Open Cut Mines Rescue Competition — a special event marking 100 years of mines rescue in our region.

11 Emergency Response Teams from across the Hunter took on challenging first aid, firefighting, vertical rescue and general rescue.

The skill, teamwork and professionalism on display were outstanding, and we’re incredibly proud of every competitor who took part.

Congratulations to Mount Thorley Warkworth on taking out the overall trophy — a fantastic achievement on such a significant anniversary.

We have received approval from the New South Wales Independent Planning Commission for our HVO Continuation Project!

Thank you to our dedicated mine workers, our local suppliers, and the broader Hunter community. Your unwavering support has been the force behind this approval.

While this is a massive milestone, the job is not yet done.

We still require Federal Government environmental approval and we will continue engaging with the National Environmental Protection Agency to progress this final approval.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this important milestone and to the ongoing future of HVO.

Meet the Cat 18 Grader — built to keep our roads in top shape 🚜

The Cat 18 is all about control and stability — helping our crews shape haul roads and keep things running smoothly across site. Its wide blade and solid build give operators the confidence to work in tough conditions day after day.

Inside the cab, the Cat 18 keeps things comfortable and easy to manage, with smart controls that help operators stay safe and focused throughout their shift.

Supporting local food relief in the Hunter 🍎

New Vine Vineyards Baptist Church is strengthening its community foodbank by turning this shed into a safe, practical space for storing and distributing food to local families.

We’re proud to help the church continue its vital work supporting people facing food insecurity across the region.

The clock is ticking ⏳ We are now in the sixth year of the approval process.

1,500 direct workers, their families and countless businesses are waiting for a decision from the NSW Independent Planning Commission (IPC).

HVO has already reduced the life of the project and reduced the total coal production from the project.

The Project meets NSW and Federal legislative and policy requirements.

We contributed $6.9 billion to the economy over the past four years ✅ This mine matters – to workers, to businesses and to the community.
