‘Crafting Careers in Timber’ – Graduation Celebrates Skills and Career Pathways
Fourteen participants recently graduated from NTHA’s ‘Crafting Careers in Timber Program’, an immersive initiative designed to take students beyond the classroom and into the full timber supply chain, from sustainable harvesting to advanced manufacturing.
The program exposed participants to a wide range of career opportunities, giving them practical skills, confidence, and real-world experience. Six participants have already secured industry jobs, with four more in the process of confirming long-term roles.
Students experienced real-world exposure with the help of industry partners Gold Coast Doorland, Timport Specialised Timber Products, Langs Building Supplies, Colonial Restoration Supplies, Texture Set, Redland Bay Roof Trusses Pty Ltd, Williams Group Australia, HQ Plantations, Southport Timbers, AKD Softwoods, Advanced Truss Systems Pty LTD and Versace Timbers.
Supported by the Queensland Government’s ‘Local Skills Solutions Program’, the initiative equips participants with practical skills and confidence while showcasing the wide range of careers available across the sector.
Queensland Government representatives, including Assistant Minister Amanda Stoker MP, attended the graduation, reinforcing the importance of industry-led training solutions.
This program is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government.
