Ever wondered what the difference between the 3 gene test and Eugene’s expanded carrier screening test is?

Here are two benefits of considering ECS versus the 3 gene panel:

1. More information to empower you to make an informed decision. 70% of people who undergo ECS are carriers for conditions outside of the 3 gene panel and on average, people are carriers for 2-5 conditions on an expanded carrier screening panel.

2. The expanded carrier screening panel is better suited to those with diverse ethnic backgrounds. The 3 gene panel looks at 3 conditions most common in the Caucasian population. Most people have some ethnicity outside of the Caucasian population and may have a higher chance of being a carrier of a condition on the ECS panel versus the 3 gene panel.

Ultimately, more people will be able to make informed decisions about their reproductive options if they undergo an expanded carrier screening panel versus the 3 gene panel.
