🚨 Project Feature | Yetholme RFS Brigade Station 🚨

Completed in 2024, this purpose-built facility for the Yetholme Rural Fire Service Brigade, delivered for NSW Public Works, provides a modern, durable and highly functional base to support local volunteer firefighting operations.

Designed and constructed as a Category 2A facility, the project included:

🔹 New steel-framed engine bay and multipurpose building
🔹 Engineered concrete slabs with insulated Colorbond cladding
🔹 BAL-rated roofing systems for enhanced bushfire resilience

The station features:
✅ Two engine bays
✅ Multipurpose room with kitchen facilities
✅ Change rooms, toilets & showers
✅ Accessible amenities
✅ Laundry and secure storage areas
✅ Fully compliant building services throughout

External works included:
✅ Concrete pavements
✅ Water storage tank & septic system
✅ Fire hose drying rack
✅ Stormwater infrastructure
✅ Full vermin-proofing to the structure

This new facility strengthens operational readiness for the Yetholme Brigade, ensuring they are better equipped to protect the local community when it matters most.

DSL Construction is proud to showcase the successful completion of the Building 1294 (Dobbin Building) Level 2 Refurbishment at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst.

Delivered in 2024 as a $2.2M lump sum project, this major refurbishment and services upgrade has transformed the Dobbin Building into a modern, high-performance workplace, delivered within a live university environment.

Project Highlights:
✔️ Refurbishment of the main foyer, enhancing the building’s arrival experience and identity
✔️ Full redevelopment of Level 2 with new private offices, meeting rooms, and collaborative open-plan workspaces

Demolition is underway as key Creative Arts and Multimedia spaces are being transformed into modern, functional, and inspiring learning environments.

🚧 Under Construction: Forbes Anytime Fitness Expansion! 💪

Over the next 3 weeks, DSL Construction will be delivering a 206m² expansion at Forbes Anytime Fitness, bringing exciting upgrades to the facility.

Project highlights include:
🏋️‍♂️ New Free Weights Area – more room to train and lift.
⚡ Refreshed Cardio, Strength & Functional Zones – upgraded spaces to enhance the workout experience.
🛠 Improved Layout & Facilities – designed for better flow, comfort, and usability.

We’re proud to be part of this transformation and look forward to handing over a revitalised space for the Forbes fitness community to enjoy.

Work is underway on the roof replacement of Block B at James Sheahan Catholic High. Scaffolding is in place, and works include:

• Removal of existing roof tiles
• Installation of wind bracing
• Installation of new metal battens
• Installation of new Colorbond steel roofing, gutters, fascia covers and downpipes

2,474 m² of roofing is being replaced as part of the project.

The project has been carefully planned and staged, with each phase scheduled during school holidays. This ensures the safety of students, staff, and visitors while minimising disruption to the school’s daily operations.

We look forward to progressing through the stages and delivering a high-quality outcome for the school.

Luke is our eldest child and the “L” in DSL Construction, born just 6 months before the business was established. We’re so proud to see him on the tools, learning from our talented team. Thanks to Skillset for supporting his journey. 🛠️

Luke O'Brien is currently completing a School-Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) with DSL Construction Construction, where his dad, Daniel, is the owner. Inspired by his father’s work, Luke hopes to follow in his footsteps and join the family business full-time after school.

When asked why he chose to do an SBAT, Luke said:

“It gives you one foot out the door, but you also get to stay at school with your mates. I get to work extra in the school holidays too.”

Luke is studying a Certificate III in Carpentry and attends Denison College - Bathurst High Campus. Thanks to the SBAT program, he’ll be able to go straight into the second year of his apprenticeship once he finishes school.

Luke has been gaining hands-on experience thanks to his work on the Skillset project, where he’s had the opportunity to strap down trusses, frame and set out window frames, install and seal windows, work on the elevator shaft and core filling, and fit door jambs.

“Working on the Skillset renovation, my favourite part has been framing out the windows. I love carpentry and really enjoyed making these. I’m proud I can point at them and say, ‘I made those.’"

Luke says completing an SBAT is a great option if you love school but want to get started on your career early. It’s a part-time job, so he’s earning money while learning on the job, meeting new people, making friends, and picking up new skills every day.
