A failed chassis doesn’t automatically put the whole truck on the scrap heap.

The question is what’s still serviceable and what needs replacing. If the chassis is beyond repair, that means stripping the truck down and rebuilding it onto a replacement, not chasing corrosion with more patches.

That’s work we carry out at AIG. A full strip-down, chassis replacement and reassembly, retaining serviceable components through the rebuild.

There’s no point putting new pins and bushes into a bore that’s already flogged out.

Once a bore wears out of round, the pin-and-bush fit is compromised and replacement components start life behind the eight ball.

Line boring is the machining step that brings a repaired bore back to the required diameter, roundness and alignment.

It might not be the flashiest job in the workshop, but it is the difference between repairing the bore properly and bolting new parts into the same worn joint.

Not every site gives you room to line up for a rear tip.

On civil and construction sites, restricted access, tight positioning and changing unloading points can make a conventional rear tipper limiting.

This three-way tipper body gives operators the option to discharge left, right or rear, providing greater flexibility around truck positioning and material placement.

Less unnecessary repositioning and more options to work with the site conditions, particularly where access is restricted.

Out on site is the wrong place to find out a handrail doesn’t fit.

A fixing plate in the wrong position, a missed interface or a change in level can turn a straightforward install into cutting, welding and rework onsite.

AIG fabricates steel handrail and guardrail assemblies around the actual dimensions and fixing conditions of the job. Bends, transitions, mounting points and site interfaces are resolved before the finished steel leaves the workshop.

Because the crew onsite should be installing it, not rebuilding it.

Plenty of people can make sparks. Getting the job right takes more than that.

It takes people who can read the job, plan it properly and keep it moving without creating problems for the next stage.

From engineering and project coordination in the office to fabrication in the workshop and work onsite, every set of hands has a part to play.

The welding might get most of the screen time, but it is only one part of what gets the job out the door and working where it needs to.

A grizzly screen is built to take a hiding. The wear components should be replaceable without replacing the whole frame.

This new static grizzly was designed and fabricated for a 5-tonne load capacity, with 300 mm apertures and a 37-degree rake.

Replaceable 150UB grizzly bars form the screening surface, while Bisalloy-lined skids protect the wear points underneath.

With a 6.3-tonne tare, the RHS frame is no lightweight. Modular construction, lifting lugs and tow points were also built in to manage transport and assembly.

Heavy where it needs to be. Serviceable where it will wear.

The first time a ROPS proves itself should not be during a rollover.

Different chassis, tare weights and operating environments place different demands on the structure. That is why one ROPS does not fit every truck.

AIG designs each system around the vehicle, including any accessory mounting required for mudguards, fire extinguishers, high-level lighting or vehicle-specific equipment.

The design is then put through crush testing to verify it meets the relevant standards and provides the protection it was built for.

The steelwork can be right and the job can still be wrong.

If the drawings, material certificates, inspection records and finished build don’t line up, site inherits a compliance problem.

When an auditor asks what was designed, what steel went into it and whether the finished asset matches, close enough is not an answer.

When AIG manages the full scope, engineering, fabrication and documentation move through the job together. RPEQ certification is provided where required, material traceability is maintained and the completed asset can be checked against the approved design.

The asset leaves the workshop with a clear record of what was designed, built and verified, not a compliance pack pieced together after the fact.
