We found tiles laid onto chipboard with zero waterproofing — a problem completely hidden until we stripped it back.

Someone actually thought this was acceptable work.

This is what a latent condition looks like — hidden until you open it up, expensive once you do.

A proper bathroom floor needs the right substrate, correct underlay, and waterproofing before a single tile goes down.

A lot of people assume building a shed house is a cheaper shortcut to building a home, but the reality is very different once you understand Australian building codes and certification requirements.

A standard home is classified as a Class 1 building, while a shed falls under Class 10, which means the structural requirements, engineering, slab design, and compliance standards are completely different.

The moment you want to turn a shed into a livable dwelling, you still need engineering, soil testing, plumbing, approvals, and construction standards that are very similar to building a normal house.

While shed structures can sometimes get to the lock-up stage faster, the additional framing, insulation, lining, and internal works often balance out any savings people think they are getting.
