Planning a wastewater system for your property? QLD Globe is a great place to start. Mapping layers may also be available through your local council's website.

QLD Globe provides valuable information about your block, helping to identify property boundaries, watercourses, dams, vegetation constraints and other features that may affect onsite wastewater system design.

While QLD Globe is a valuable desktop assessment tool, a site and soil evaluation is still required to determine the suitability of an onsite wastewater system in accordance with AS/NZS 1547 and Queensland requirements. CQ Soil Testing's trained field technicians assess site and soil conditions, identify site constraints, and collect the critical data needed to support a compliant and practical wastewater system design.

When seeking a wastewater assessment and design, it's important to have information such as:
• Number of bedrooms
• Water supply source (town water, rainwater tanks or bore water)
• Existing infrastructure
• Future plans for sheds, pools, driveways, retaining walls or other improvements

Wastewater system design relies on accurate site information. Features such as dams, bores, waterways, buildings, boundaries, slopes and environmentally sensitive areas all influence system selection, land application area sizing and setback requirements.

Identifying these constraints early can help avoid costly surprises and ensure there is sufficient suitable land available for a compliant onsite wastewater system.

We welcome today's update from the Fraser Coast Hospice and are encouraged by the determination being shown to find a sustainable path forward.

The overwhelming support from across the Fraser Coast, the Wide Bay region, and beyond has highlighted just how valued this service is and the important role it plays in the lives of local families.

Our Wide Bay Burnett Managers, Anna and Quentin Rider, have been proud supporters of the Fraser Coast Hospice through CQ Soil Testing's sponsorship of the Hospice Ball, and our thoughts remain with the patients, families, staff, volunteers, and supporters who have worked tirelessly to make the Fraser Coast Hospice such a special part of our community. ❤️

Our thoughts remain with the patients, families, staff, volunteers, and supporters who have worked tirelessly to make the Fraser Coast Hospice such a special part of our community. ❤️

LET'S CLARIFY THE NUMBERS. A range of different figures have been shared across social media regarding the Fraser Coast Hospice's financial position. We understand this can be confusing, so we'd like to provide some clarity.

The Hospice's annual operating costs are approx. $2.4 million per year, equating to around $200,000 per month.

Current recurrent State Government funding is approx. $1.62 million per year, equating to around $135,000 per month.

The Hospice also receives a modest amount of income from private health funds & the Department of Veterans' Affairs and on average $10,000 - $20,000 per month from fundraising activities, donations, sponsorships, & other community support initiatives.

While these income streams are important & deeply appreciated, they haven’t been sufficient to bridge the non-funded gap of approx. $780,000 per year.

The Board's preferred outcome remains an increase in recurrent State Government funding from 1 July 2026. An increase of approx. $65,000 per month would address the current funding shortfall & provide a significantly more sustainable pathway forward.

Alternatively, recent discussions with Queensland Health regarding the Hospice's funding arrangements have provided greater clarity around potential future revenue-generating opportunities that may assist in strengthening the organisation's long-term sustainability.

While encouraging, these opportunities require significant work to develop, establish appropriate governance frameworks, & implement before any revenue could be realised.

The Board believes that approx. $500,000 in bridging support would provide the time & operational certainty required to pursue these opportunities responsibly.

Importantly, the Board is aware of approx. $140,000 in donations that may become available should a viable pathway forward be established, including a significant contribution offered by a generous supporter.

This means the remaining bridging requirement is approximately $360,000.

The Board remains committed to being transparent with the community & thanks everyone who continues to advocate for the future of the Fraser Coast Hospice.

Thanks Panthers for the shoutout! 🐾

CQ Soil Testing is proud to sponsor Riley Munro and support the Rockhampton Panthers AFC for the 2026 season.

This marks our second year sponsoring Riley, and we're thrilled to continue supporting him as he represents the Panthers on and off the field. Community sport is built on local businesses backing local players, and we're honoured to play a small part in helping Riley and the club succeed.

The dedication, teamwork and commitment shown by Riley, his teammates, coaches and volunteers are what make clubs like the Panthers such an important part of our community.

Best of luck to Riley and the entire Panthers squad for a successful 2026 season. We'll be cheering you on all the way! 💙🖤

A Difficult Day for the Wide Bay Community

Like many across the Fraser Coast, we were deeply saddened to learn of the Fraser Coast Hospice Board's decision to enter voluntary administration.

CQ Soil Testing has proudly sponsored the Hospice Ball for the past two years and had committed to supporting this year's event as well.

Through that involvement, we've seen firsthand the incredible dedication of the staff, volunteers, supporters, and donors who have worked tirelessly to provide compassionate care and comfort to local families during some of life's most difficult moments.

The Fraser Coast Hospice Association Inc. is far more than a healthcare service. It has been a place of dignity, compassion, and support for countless people across our region. The thought of losing such an important community asset is heartbreaking.

Our thoughts are with the patients, families, staff, volunteers, and everyone who has contributed to the Hospice's mission over the years. We also recognise that the Hospice has been facing significant challenges and that many people have been working hard to find a sustainable path forward.

The overwhelming response from the community in recent days is a testament to how valued and needed this service is. It is clear that the Fraser Coast Hospice holds a special place in the hearts of so many people and families throughout our region.

While the future remains uncertain, we remain hopeful that a solution can be found. Whether through government support, philanthropy, corporate partnerships, community advocacy, or a combination of these efforts, we sincerely hope a pathway emerges that allows this vital service to continue supporting those who need it most.

To everyone affected by this announcement, please know that you have our support, our respect, and our gratitude for everything you have done for our community.

The CQ Soil Testing Team ❤️

"We remain hopeful that this is not the end of the story for the Fraser Coast Hospice."

Today, the Chair of the Fraser Coast Hospice Association Board has released an official statement regarding voluntary administration for the Fraser Coast Hospice.

We understand this news will be deeply upsetting for many in our community and thank our staff, volunteers, supporters, patients, and families for their compassion and understanding during this difficult time.

A fantastic result from the 2026 Mackay Mayor's Charity Ball, with more than $67,000 raised for two important local causes. Congratulations to everyone involved in making the evening such a success. 👏

CQ Soil Testing was proud to support the event as a Silver Sponsor, with Mackay Branch Manager Ben Sonter attending both the Ball and this morning’s cheque presentation alongside Mayor Greg Williamson, councillors, sponsors and charity representatives.

As sponsors, we were in great company alongside an outstanding group of local businesses, media partners and supporters who helped bring the event to life.

After joking with Joy from Mackay Regional Councill that our goal was to actually get Ben in a photo at next year’s Ball — given we plan to support this special event for many years to come — Joy delivered early. 😉📸 Thank you!
