PROJECT SHOWCASE | Harry The Hirer, Melbourne
::::::::: A Melbourne industrial icon reimagined for a new era.

Harry The Hirer’s headquarters is located within Melbourne’s historic Cotton Mills – a landmark with more than a century of industrial history. The redevelopment transforms the heritage building into a contemporary workplace while retaining the character of its original mill architecture.

::::::::: Arrow Metal manufactured two distinct perforated metal solutions for the project – P244 perforated panels for the feature staircase balustrades and a custom round-ended slot pattern for the lift shaft, finished in Harry The Hirer’s signature blue.

Set within the dramatic new four-level central void, the perforated metal complements the building’s industrial character while bringing lightness, transparency and a distinctly contemporary edge to the interior.

::::::::: The project was recognised with the Popular Choice Award – Commercial Interiors at the 2026 Architizer A+Awards.

PROJECT SHOWCASE | Denistone Station
::::::::::::: A custom perforated metal design inspired by the surrounding Blue Gums brings nature, heritage and functionality together at Denistone Station in Sydney.
Working from an initial design supplied by the project contractor, Arrow Metal developed and refined the pattern to ensure it translated effectively into perforated metal while maintaining the intended aesthetic.
::::::::::::: The bespoke design was precision punched into 5mm aluminium using Arrow Metal’s PixelPerf technology, then finished in a soft Crystal Green powder coat to complement the station’s heritage character.
The finished panels feature across the new footbridge, concourse, platforms and lift landing areas, providing protective barriers while creating a distinctive architectural element throughout the station.
For architects and designers, custom perforation offers the flexibility to translate artwork, imagery and site-specific concepts into functional architectural metalwork.

PROJECT SHOWCASE – Willowdale Sports Precinct
::::::::::::::: Sitting on Dharawal and Gandangara land, the Willowdale Sports Precinct project required different hues of scarlet to reflect the area’s significant Indigenous archaeological heritage, tying into the project’s materiality palette of fire, clay, and ash.

We used a variety of patterns and colours to achieve the project’s aesthetic goals. Classic round hole P239 is punched into the facade, transforming it into a glowing lantern at night thanks to internal lighting, while hexagonal pattern Electra brings texture to the interiors.

For the WC facilities, we gave traditional signage a new modern twist using PixelPerf – our custom image-to-perforation technology – which recreated a provided silhouette in perforated metal.

::::::::::::::: But colour was critical. Exterior panels were powder-coated in Dulux Duratec Desert Satin to match the red corrugated roof – a key architectural feature inspired by early settler farm buildings. Inside, we created a custom, made-to-order colour to match the project’s rich, earthy tones.

Each panel was made with folded edges, achieving durability and the clean, architectural lines of Sam Crawford Architect’s building design.

PROJECT SHOWCASE | 100 Mount Street, North Sydney
:::::::: When a fire stair is also a key architectural feature, every detail matters.

Arrow Metal manufactured more than 300 perforated mild steel balustrade panels for the signature stairs at 100 Mount Street – North Sydney’s tallest commercial building.

The glass-enclosed stairwell is a prominent part of the 35-storey building’s design and serves as the main access point for each office level. The balustrade therefore needed to deliver on both safety and architectural impact.

The solution: Perforated mild steel in our classic P246 pattern, featuring 9.5mm round holes in a staggered pitch with 40% open area.

Each panel was individually designed and profiled by our team to fit its exact position on the stairwell. The perforation pattern was carefully adjusted to keep the holes parallel with the panel edges, creating a consistent, uniform finish throughout.
Selected panels were also precisely folded to achieve an exact pattern match and fit on site.

After delivery, the panels were powder coated by our customer, creating a light, bright balustrade that complements the building’s contemporary interior.

It’s a great example of how perforated metal can turn a functional building element into an architectural feature.

NEW PROJECT SHOWCASE - Perforated Metal Bridge Screens
::::::::::::: The President Avenue Bridge is a striking addition to Sydney’s active transport network, forming part of the M6 Stage 1 Active Transport Corridor. Designed to provide a safe and accessible connection for pedestrians and cyclists, the bridge demonstrates how perforated metal can enhance both the performance and visual identity of public infrastructure.

::::::::::::: Architectural Perforated Metal with Purpose

A defining feature of the bridge is its custom perforated aluminium balustrade system, where individually designed panels combine to create a continuous artwork inspired by the project’s Connection to Country vision.

The warm copper-toned finish complements the surrounding landscape, while the continuous perforated screens reinforce the bridge’s elegant, flowing form.

Individually designed perforated panels come together to create a continuous artwork that unfolds along the bridge, creating a visual narrative that reflects place, culture and movement.

The result is a striking architectural feature that demonstrates how custom perforated metal can combine cultural expression with safety, durability and long-term performance.

AWARD-WINNING PROJECT | Hurlstone Memorial Reserve Community Centre
::::::::::::::: Award-winning architecture is built on great collaboration.

Arrow Metal is proud to have supplied the custom perforated aluminium façade for the Hurlstone Memorial Reserve Community Centre, recognised with the 2024 Australian Institute of Architects NSW Award for Small Project Architecture and the 2024 Australian Good Design Award – Best in Class for Architectural Design.

Featuring 79 custom-fabricated panels in 3mm aluminium, using Pattern P244 with a 51% open area, the façade combines natural ventilation, filtered light and weather protection with a distinctive architectural identity. Precision-curved and folded panels bring the architect's flowing pavilion design to life while delivering lasting performance.

::::::::::::::: This project demonstrates how perforated metal can enhance both the functionality and visual impact of civic architecture.

NEW PROJECT SHOWCASE - Marsden Park Anglican College Impact Centre
::::::::::::::: Bringing Cultural Storytelling to the Building Façade.
At Marsden Park Anglican College’s new Impact Centre, architecture, culture and functionality come together through a series of custom perforated metal screens manufactured by Arrow Metal.

A key feature of the building is the integration of Aboriginal artwork by Seratta Art & Design into the façade, transforming the external envelope into a meaningful architectural expression. The result is a façade that changes throughout the day as light and shadow interact with the perforations, creating depth, texture and visual movement across the building.

::::::::::::::: One elevation incorporates a large-scale Aboriginal artwork, creating a distinctive visual statement and a strong sense of place. The artwork was translated into a perforated metal pattern, allowing the design to become an integral part of the building rather than an applied graphic element.

::::::::::::::: A second façade features a series of smaller perforated panels designed to provide:
• Natural ventilation
• Solar screening
• Visual permeability
• Architectural interest
