The Hunter has had a big couple of weeks and so have we.
Over recent weeks, our team has had the opportunity to stop, reflect, listen and learn through two incredibly valuable experiences that have left a lasting impact.
First, our leaders took part in Resilience First Aid training with Tammy from Core Health Consulting.
It gave our leaders the opportunity to reflect on their own resilience and wellbeing, while building the skills and confidence to recognise when someone else may be struggling and know how to offer meaningful support.
Strong leadership isn't just about managing the job in front of you. It's about recognising the people around you, understanding what they need to thrive, and creating an environment where they feel supported, valued and able to perform at their best.
When we better understand our people, we can better support them, develop their strengths and ultimately get the best from them, both personally and professionally.
We then had the heartbreaking privilege of welcoming Rob and Patrizia Cassaniti to Morgan Engineering.
Trish shared the devastating story of losing their 18-year-old son, Christopher, in a workplace accident in 2019.
She spoke to our team twice, giving almost our entire workforce the opportunity to hear Christopher's story and understand the very real consequences when workplace safety fails.
It was confronting. It was emotional. And it has stayed with us.
The conversations have continued across our workshops long after Trish and Rob left and that is exactly why experiences like these matter.
The greatest respect we can show Christopher and every family impacted by a workplace tragedy, is to take what we have heard back into our own workplace. To speak up. To challenge complacency. To check on our mates. And to never accept that something is safe simply because "we've always done it that way."
We strongly encourage other businesses and leaders to invest in experiences like these. Give your people the tools to support one another. Give them the confidence to speak up. Bring real stories into your workplace and keep the conversation going.
Most importantly, support Rob and Trish as they continue turning unimaginable loss into change through Let's Talk About Safety and Christopher's Law.
