5th Star Services is a reliable and experienced subcontractor supporting electrical contractors, builders, and other businesses.

This recent project was completed at Suntory Oceania in Swanbank for NCSA Electrical Contractors, during a weekend shutdown as we were working around an automated pallet racking system which couldn’t be shut down during standard business hours.

Look at the photos – here’s a breakdown of the job steps:
• Conducted a site visit.
• Developed a safe access plan for the work area to perform electrical tasks.
• Produced a detailed methodology document outlining the safe work process.
• Engaged in a Teams meetings with Suntory and NCSA to finalise a safe and effective approach.
• Carried out complex rope access aid climbing – 40m high inside the Suntory facility – and set up 4 abseiling rope systems.
• Performed electrical work using rope access-qualified electricians.
• Safely derigged all rope systems after completion.

We love helping to reshape the Brisbane and Gold Coast’s skyline!
This recent project was completed on the Santos building on Turbot Street, Brisbane City.
Scope of work included:
• Developing a safe and efficient method to complete the job with minimal disruption to the public and tenants of the building
• Supplying a detailed methodology and quote to the Brisbane signage company looking to engage our services
• Organising traffic management and footpath closure permits
• Designing and manufacturing a custom drop safety net to completely enclose the work area — ensuring that even the smallest item would not pose a threat to pedestrians below.
• Installing the safety drop net
• Removing redundant Santos signage and frames via rope access
• Installing new sign frames and signage via rope access
• Wiring DC and AC components of the new signage
• Testing and commissioning

For the past four years, we've been subcontracting for a local traffic control supplies business, carrying out vacuum excavation for pier footings on their street sign installations.
They recently required the services of our flatbed crane truck and EWP truck to assist in the removal of some old overhead street signs which were posing a risk to the public safety and needed to be removed asap. This was on the overpass on Browns plains Road and the Service Road. Due to the busy nature of this road these works needed to be completed after hours and with a full traffic management plan in place.

Check out the photos! 5th Star Services completed the installation for a large billboard media company, which included:
• Supply and installation of pad footing with 27m³ of concrete including all form work.
• All electrical and electrical civil works, including sign switchboard, lights, and power points
• Transportation of the sign frame from the manufacturer using our crane truck
• Installation of the sign frame with crane truck and riggers
• Installation of digital cabinets supplied by the client
• Wiring of 240V power and data to each cabinet
• Testing and commissioning

This was a large digital billboard project which involved replacing a defunct digital billboard (9m x 6m portrait) and upgrading the infrastructure for new advanced digital billboard technology.
From concept to completion the project went smoothly with no issues at all. With an emphasis on public and employee safety throughout the project and some of the building hazards we managed included:
• Safely managing the electrical supply/connection to removing any risk of electrocution
• Height safety for all workers involved
• Manual handling of heavy objects
• Setting up exclusion zones to safely minimise the risk of falling objects
• Swarf on roof below management

I forgot to post this interesting job on the most Iconic Queensland neon sign.
This iconic ###X sign is heritage listed and I assume it has been around since the 70’s or 80’s or before.
5th Star services installed anchor points to be able to gain access to sign via rope access, we also performed the repairs.

October 2023 - Billboard upgrade for a national billboard and signage customer.
The scope of work:
• Perform site inspection with a EWP, take some measurements and work out a solution for banner installation and illumination also supply quotation for upgrade work.
• We removed all the redundant fluorescents and infrastructure.
• Installed new ACM backing with pre fitted LED modules.
• We installed 150 x150mm aluminium angles with mitred corners around the outer edge.
• We installed the sail track and the new advertising banners.

July 2023 – 5th Star Services installed this undercover carpark at Palmwoods Hotel for Xpress Industries.
A brief scope of work:
• Underground utility scanning.
• Pier footing set out.
• Footing excavation.
• Footing set up and concrete pouring.
• Steel installation and er****on.
• Roof and gutter installation.
• Installation of underground conduit and “making good” asphalt.
• Grouting pole bases and pressure washing asphalt work area.

September 2023 - 5th Star Services are electrical contractors, we take on our own work and also work/sub-contract to large electrical contractors because of our experience in working at heights, rope access and underground civil electrical experience, we are a trusted partner and ally.

In the September school holidays, we performed civil works for Queensland Data and Electrical at Churchie School.

We installed 3 x Stackable pits and 100mm underground conduit. The task included GPR scanning, vacuum excavation, mechanical excavation and making good all excavations.
All went well will the task, the vacuum excavation did take longer than expected because of the shale and rock.

August 2023 – 5th Star Services dismantled, labelled, packed and freighted for future use for a large signage and billboard business this Super Site Billboard at Woolloongabba.
All went well and to plan and the sign was removed safety in the allocated time period, we were also fortunate to have a large area to perform the work and park the crane and trucks.
