🎉 Celebrating 20 Years with Robson Civil Projects 🎉

Congratulations to Matt Dolman on reaching an incredible milestone of 20 years with Robson Civil Projects.

Over the past two decades, Matt has become an integral part of the Robson team, building an impressive career across a number of roles within the business. Starting out as a Site Supervisor, Matt later transitioned into an office-based role and now holds the position of Senior Estimator in our Thornton office.

Matt’s extensive hands-on construction experience, combined with his strong technical knowledge and industry understanding, has made him a highly valued member of the Estimating team. Throughout his career, he has successfully priced and secured a wide range of major projects for the business.

Most recently, Matt has played a key role in the successful estimating of projects including the Mamre Road / Abbotts Road Intersection Upgrade in Sydney and the current Mt Arthur Rehabilitation Works, adding to a long list of significant projects delivered throughout his time at Robson.

Thank you, Matt, for your dedication, professionalism and contribution over the last 20 years. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement and we look forward to many more successes ahead. 👏

Well, if you’ve been following along for a while, you might remember that a few months back we were delighted to receive some wonderful historical photos from Gail Santi (née Martin), daughter of Bruce Martin, who worked for Robson as an operator during the 1960s and 70s. 📸

Gail kindly asked us to put the call out for any past employees—or anyone with a connection to Robson—to share photos from the old Robson Christmas picnics, which were held at Henry Stump’s place in Somersby. 🖼

A big thank you to Terry Ward and Kerry Ward (née Jenkins) for sending in these fantastic photos, taken by Bruce Jenkins, who was a boilermaker at our former West Gosford premises.

Featured in some of the photos (which are Circa early 70s) are Tony Ree (former Workshop Manager), Kerry & Deidre Jenkins, Geoff Ferguson (former Transport Manager) and many familiar faces from those special days.

The third photo is from a 1974 Christmas party and features our very own Greg Ferguson as a 3-year-old sitting on the ride on lawn mower (Thanks to Barbara Feguson for uncovering this gem). The train cover pictured second was a bespoke creation by the workshop guys the week before the party. 🙌

Ah, the 70s—truly a different and less complicated time. With not much technology, a whole lot more fun outdoors (take us back!), and, of course, far less OH&S. It’s also clear that Santa has been making his annual appearance at Robson Christmas parties for the kids for a very long time!

It’s so special to have such a wonderful community of Robson ex-pats who continue to share these memories, reminding us how much the business meant—not just as a workplace, but as an important part of their lives and their families’ stories.

🎉 Celebrating 20 Years with Robson Civil Projects 🎉

Recently, we celebrated an incredible milestone for one of Robson Civil Projects’ valued Site Managers, Phil Badior, who has reached 20 years with the company.

Phil joined Robson in his early 20s, already bringing close to a decade of industry experience and a strong background across all plant and equipment. Starting on a project at John Renshaw, he quickly made an impression with his work ethic, leadership and practical knowledge, progressing into a Site Manager role within just 12 months.

Over the past two decades, Phil has played a major role in delivering some of Robson’s key projects across a wide range of sectors, including Mining Infrastructure, Transport Infrastructure, Building works and Residential Subdivisions. His project experience includes works at Bengalla, Mangoola, Ravensworth North, Bulga, Kooragang Island, Newcastle Light Rail, Kahibah, Cessnock Correctional Centre, Cooranbong, Bobs Farm and Fullerton Cove.

Phil is currently delivering works on our large-scale subdivision projects at Chisholm and is now into his 10th stage on the project, reflecting the trust and confidence both Robson and our clients have in his ability to consistently deliver successful outcomes.

Known for his leadership, professionalism and deep understanding of civil construction, Phil has become a highly respected member of the Robson team. His ability to lead crews, build strong relationships and deliver quality outcomes has made a lasting impact on the business over the last 20 years.

Congratulations on this outstanding milestone Phil, and thank you for your dedication, hard work and contribution to Robson Civil Projects. 👏

We’re extremely excited to be taking part in the Civil Contractors Federation NSW Women in Civil Mentoring Program in 2026, marking the first year Robson Civil Projects has been involved in the initiative 👏

Last Thursday, four Robson mentees, accompanied by People and Culture Manager Casey Samuels, attended the CCF NSW Women in Civil Community Celebration Lunch as part of the mentoring program launch.

Representing Robson in this year’s program (pictured left to right) are:
🔹Cody Hollingworth (Construction Apprentice)
🔹Jemma Matthews Mathews (Environmental Coordinator)
🔹Madeline Stevens (Engineering Surveyor)
🔹Sophie McGuire (Project Manager)

Ahead of the lunch, the ladies had the opportunity to meet their mentors before joining industry peers for an inspiring afternoon focused on connection, leadership and the growing opportunities for women within civil construction 🤝

One of the key messages from the day was the importance of representation and showcasing the diverse career pathways available within our industry, from operational and site-based roles through to leadership and professional positions. As part of our first cohort, we’re extremely proud to have women represented across such a broad range of roles here at Robson.

Events like this continue to highlight the positive momentum building across civil construction 🚧

At Robson, we are proud to support initiatives that encourage development, create opportunities and help strengthen the future of women in our industry.

A big thank you to CCF NSW for hosting such a meaningful event, and congratulations to everyone involved in the 2026 mentoring program 👏

🧠 Walking for a Cause 🥾

This June, our General Manager, Greg Ferguson (Fergy), will take on the incredible challenge of the 2026 Big Three Trek alongside Chris York from Commworx, raising vital funds and awareness for brain cancer research through the Mark Hughes Foundation.

The Big Three Trek isn’t just a walk — it’s a movement. Covering 150km in just 3 days, the trek runs from NRL Headquarters in Moore Park to McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle, bringing together participants united by one goal: making a difference in the fight against brain cancer.

Chris York has a long-standing connection with Robson Civil Projects as a former employee and now through his own successful labour and plant hire company, Commworx, which continues to support Robson operations across a range of projects.

We’re proud to see Greg and Chris taking on this challenge together. This is more than a physical test — it’s about supporting families, raising awareness, and helping fund critical research that can change lives.

We’re incredibly proud of both Greg and Chris for stepping up for such an important cause. 👏

Last Friday, we had the opportunity to attend the Central Coast Clontarf Academies’ annual Employment Forum — and what a fantastic experience it was.

The forum brought together Year 11 and 12 First Nations students from Northlakes, Wyong, The Entrance and Wadalba High Schools to explore training and employment pathways across a range of industries, including retail, health, defence and construction.

Through a series of fast-paced 4-minute rotations, we connected with small groups of students, sharing insights into opportunities within civil construction and at Robson.

The boys were respectful, engaged and genuinely curious about their future pathways. It’s clear that initiatives like this play a powerful role in building confidence and expanding horizons.

The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men — equipping them to participate more meaningfully in society. It was a privilege to support that mission and contribute to such an important initiative.
Thank you to the Clontarf team for the invitation and for the impact you continue to make. 👏
