Last week, our engineering team came together at WesTrac for a valuable day of connection, collaboration and learning. ✨

With engineers working across a wide range of projects, the day provided an opportunity to catch up face-to-face, share insights and experiences from site, and discuss the challenges and successes being seen across the business.

The team also gained a behind-the-scenes look at the technology driving modern CAT equipment, learning more about the machinery we rely on every day and the innovations shaping the future of our industry. 🚜

A big thank you to WesTrac for hosting the day and providing an engaging look into the technology and engineering behind the machines that help us deliver projects across NSW. πŸ™Œ

πŸ”¦ Employee Spotlight | Tom Woolley

You may recognise Tom from some of our previous apprentice posts. Tom’s a fully-fledged Heavy Diesel Mechanic now, and today we're shining a light on a passion project that perfectly showcases the attention to detail and dedication he brings to everything he does. ✨

Pictured here with his stunningly restored 1987 Kenworth K100E, Tom purchased the truck as a project around three years ago from Echuca, VIC and has since spent countless hours bringing it back to life, with a little help from his father and brother along the way. πŸš›

From re-wrapped tanks and stainless-steel accessories to custom diamond-stamped detailing and bespoke blue vinyl tank end covers, every aspect of the restoration has been carefully considered and meticulously executed.

"It's been so rewarding watching it all come together and seeing the end result," says Tom.

A stickler for authenticity, Tom even sent the truck back to Victoria, where it originally came from, to have the scrollwork hand-painted by a renowned Victorian artisan who specialises in the craft. πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ¨

Last month, Tom took the Kenworth on its maiden long-haul trip since the restoration to the Casino Truck Show, where he enjoyed showcasing the truck and meeting fellow enthusiasts who share his appreciation for classic rigs.

Tom's passion for heavy vehicles, commitment to quality and eye for detail are clear to see in this incredible restoration. They're also the same qualities that make him such a valued member of our maintenance team at the Somersby Workshop. πŸ™Œ

We're fortunate to have people like Tom in our business, bringing pride, craftsmanship and genuine passion to their work every day.

β˜• Robson Civil Projects was proud to be the Coffee Cart Sponsor of the recent NSW Industrial & Logistics Summit in Sydney, hosted by the Property Council of Australia.

Our Business Development Manager, Michelle King, and Sydney Divisional Manager, Tim Dillon, attended the half-day event, which brought together industry leaders, planners, developers, investors and contractors to discuss the future of industrial growth in NSW.

The summit highlighted the importance of unlocking industrial land supply, streamlining planning processes and delivering the infrastructure needed to support future growth across the state.

Events like these provide a valuable opportunity to connect with industry peers, share insights and strengthen relationships that help bring major developments to life.

A big thank you to the Property Council of Australia for hosting the event and to everyone who joined us for a coffee throughout the morning.

Celebrating 20 Years with Rob Forett! πŸŽ‰

This year marks an incredible 20 years with Robson for Hunter Valley Plant Manager, Rob Forett. ✨

Rob joined the business as a fitter at our original West Gosford yard, working on the road transport fleet before moving into field service roles supporting major projects. He later relocated to the Hunter Valley, where he continued to build his career as a fitter before stepping into leadership roles as Hunter Valley Maintenance Supervisor and, ultimately, Hunter Valley Plant Manager.

Today, Rob oversees our Hunter Valley plant operations and leads a dedicated team supporting our mining projects across the region.

Thank you, Rob, for your hard work, commitment and contribution over the past two decades. Congratulations on this significant milestone and thank you for being such an important part of the Robson team. πŸ™Œ

πŸ¦• Throwback Thursday! 30 Years Since Ploddy's Big Move

This year marks 30 years since one of the Central Coast's most recognisable landmarks arrived at its new home in Somersby, and we're proud to have played a part in the journey. πŸ’™πŸ’š

Back in 1996, when the Australian Reptile Park relocated from Wyoming to Somersby, there was one very important resident coming too... Ploddy the Dinosaur. πŸ¦•

Standing 26 metres long, moving a giant Diplodocus was no small task. To prepare him for transport, Ploddy's tail and legs were removed before he was carefully lifted by Gosford's largest crane onto a Robson float. Driven by Lindsay Robson, Ploddy was then paraded through the streets of Gosford as part of a community celebration marking the Park's move. πŸ‘πŸŽ‰

Around 10,000 people lined the streets to witness the historic occasion as Lindsay carefully navigated the 10-kilometre journey from Wyoming to Somersby, delivering Ploddy to his new home.

✨Reflecting on the day, Lindsay remembers the incredible community atmosphere:

"There were just so many people on the main streets of Gosford, I couldn't believe it. It made for a really nice day."

Thirty years later, Ploddy remains one of Australia's most loved "big things", welcoming visitors to the Australian Reptile Park and watching over millions of motorists travelling along the M1 each year.

We're proud to have played a part in a moment that has become a treasured piece of Central Coast history.

πŸ¦• Happy 30th anniversary to Ploddy at Somersby!

Congratulations on 5 Years, Chris! πŸŽ‰

After making the move from Brisbane with his family to join Robson, Chris has become a key part of our Estimating team. His expertise, commitment and hard work have helped secure a number of successful projects, contributing to the continued growth of the business.

From major project wins including Archers Run at Morisset and Rosella Rise Stage 3 at Warnervale, Chris has played an important role in shaping opportunities for Robson over the past five years.

Thank you for everything you've contributed, Chris. We're proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to many more successes ahead. πŸ‘

πŸ’™ Raising Love for families when they need it most.

We recently attended the Newcastle Raise Love Charity Ball, where we were proud to be an Event Partner supporting Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW.

The evening was a powerful reminder of the impact this incredible organisation has on families facing some of life's toughest challenges. One of the most moving moments of the night was hearing from Logan and his family, whose story highlighted the importance of keeping families together during a child's medical journey.

As Logan's mum, Maddy, shared:
"When we needed it most, we found people who cared. We found a family. We found a community. And, in a time when our own home felt impossibly far away, we found another place that we called home." πŸ’›

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised an incredible $264,000, helping provide 1,389 nights of accommodation and support for families with seriously ill or injured children. 🫢

We're grateful to have played a small part in such a meaningful evening and congratulate Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW on another outstanding event. πŸ‘
