Unprecedented amounts of rainfall over the last few months have severely damaged road networks on the Eastern Seaboard requiring Local Government and State Government to find ways to manage and repair these assets for road users in a timely fashion.

Stabilisation is a technique that looks to re-use the damaged pavement and create a more resilient pavement with the introduction of a granular or chemical binder. The cost effective, quick rate of construction and ability to keep the road open during construction is a valuable benefit to the local road users.

Stabilised Pavements of Australia are specialised to provide technical advice and support along with delivering works. Please contact our Regional Managers who are readily available to assist with your project needs.

This month Stabilised Pavements completed the first Foamed Bitumen Stabilised Pavement for Wollongong City Council. The proposed council design for the job was a Deep Lift Heavily Bound Pavement, however it was found the work zone contained a shallow water main. The use of Foamed Bitumen allowed the pavement design depth to be reduced, resulting in being able to safely stabilise over the water main. Council was extremely happy with the result and is now looking at this treatment as an alternative to deep lift asphalt in good quality gravels and areas with shallow services
