Terrazzo is not just for floors.

This splashback uses a rose-flecked terrazzo tile, warmed up further by LED strip lighting tucked under the top cabinets. Paired with handle-less oak veneer doors and a black induction cooktop, it turns what is usually the most overlooked wall in the kitchen into the actual feature.

This joinery was built to hold a genuine mix, books, artwork, travel pieces, without looking like a display case. Integrated lighting behind each shelf means everything on it gets seen properly, day or night.

Choosing the right stone can carry an entire kitchen.

This island uses a single slab of natural stone, cut so the veining runs continuously down the waterfall edge, with the same stone repeated on the splashback behind. Warm timber veneer cabinetry frames it on both sides.

Keeping the vanity off the floor makes the room feel bigger, and makes cleaning underneath a lot easier too, a small detail that matters more once you are living with it day to day. Add a timber veneer finish set against a marble style splashback, and you've got a modern look to swoon over.

Good design does not always mean starting from scratch. Sometimes it means building the right piece for how the space is actually used.

This kitchen kept its classic shaker style and timber floors, but the island was built to earn its keep: deep storage below, a servery bench that opens the kitchen up to the rest of the room, and enough bench space for two people.
