UTS Central
UTS Central is an 18-storey, glass-encased, architecturally striking, building containing a vibrant student hub and faculty space.
The building has redefined the southern gateway to Sydney’s CBD. It is the recipient of many architectural awards, including being short listed for the 2020/21 World Architecture Festival Higher Education and Research award for completed buildings management and energy efficiencies like no other.
Designed, tested, manufactured locally and supplied by 3Slighting , UTS Central contains thousands of digitally addressable luminaires that have been carefully grouped and set to provide optimal lighting levels throughout its many levels. The building utilises daylight harvesting to embrace the abundance of natural light. The glass facade acts as a giant light filter, capturing external light levels and reducing light output internally. Sophisticated programming and design ensures maximum energy efficiencies that are coupled with optimised user comfort.
3Slighting locally manufactured and supplied surface mounted and suspended aluminium LED extrusions, LED downlights and variety of custom solutions to suit the unique architecture and specifically required applications. Each 3S product was meticulously designed and crafted to meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. The team took great pride in the ability to innovate and adapt , ensuring that every lighting solution not only met exceeded customer expectations. By using energy- efficient LED technology, 3Slighting significantly reduced energy consumption. Moreover, custom solutions enabled the University to achieve the perfect lighting ambiance for any space, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.

DUCATI- Worthington Motorcycles

Let’s rev up our imaginations and cruise through the illuminated showroom of Worthington Motorcycles to a place where dreams ride. This motorcycle sales dealership isn’t just about chrome and horsepower—it’s a symphony of light and shadow, designed to ignite passion in every rider who walks through its doors.
As you step inside, the air hums with anticipation. The entrance atrium is bathed in a celestial glow—a blend of LED strips and spotlights. The polished concrete floor reflects the radiance, creating a runway for dreams. The scent of leather and motor oil mingles with the warm light, welcoming you to the world of two-wheeled marvels.
Rows of motorcycles stand at attention, each illuminated like a star on a cosmic stage. The spotlight ballet begins: LED track lights follow the contours of tank and fender, emphasizing curves and chrome. A crimson Ducati Panigale catches your eye—the LED headlamp winks, inviting you to straddle its sleek frame that wears its LED accents like tattoos—subtle yet rebellious.
In the space reserved for custom builds, neon tubes come alive. The Supersport, its white paint gleaming, stands proud. Customers gather here, discussing handlebar heights and exhaust notes, their faces bathed in the glow.
Beyond the showroom, the service bay hums with activity. LED task lights hang over workbenches like celestial surgeons’ lamps. Mechanics in oil-stained coveralls peer into engines, adjusting valves and timing belts. The Street Fighter, stripped down to its essentials, awaits its turn. The LED light strips along the tool cabinets reveal rows of meticulously organized sockets and wrenches—a symphony of precision. The service manager, clipboard in hand, moves through the bay like a conductor, ensuring every detail aligns.
Adjacent to the checkout counter, the accessories beckon. Helmets, gloves, and riding jackets hang like constellations.
At Worthington Ducati, it is not just about selling motorcycles; it’s about kindling the rider’s soul.
The 3S Lighting design—meticulously planned, like a well-tuned engine—creates an atmosphere where dreams ignite.

Her Majesty's Theatre Adelaide

Her Majesty’s Theatre, constructed in 1913, is Adelaide’s oldest continually operating performance venue. Described upon opening as “the most luxuriously appointed theatre in Australia.” It is the last surviving example of the Tivoli chain of theatres in Australia.
In the 60s and 70s, redevelopments removed some original architectural features and lowered the seating capacity to 900.
The latest redevelopment was generated by community calls for bigger shows with increased seating and improved back of house facilities
The theatre now features a 1467-seat auditorium and the return of the Grand Circle after its removal over 50 years ago. The building’s Edwardian facade and entire eastern wall were retained, with the rest of the theatre rebuilt from scratch in the art nouveau style.
3S Lighting worked with the Aurecon design, developed together with the interior design, to enhance the heritage features of the building, and provide flexibility to cater for a variety of performances. The state-of-the-art light fittings are capable of being smoothly dimmed to 0% output. The seamless integration of these advanced lighting solutions not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the space but also provides optimum functionality and energy efficiency. In addition to the technical aspects, the project also prioritises sustainability. The use of energy-efficient LED technology significantly reduces power consumption, contributing to a greener and more eco-friendly environment.
Her Majesty’s Theatre marries best practice design principles with exceptional design outcomes. The public and media acclaim to date, and successful performances, strongly point to the significant improvement this project has had on the performing arts and cultural life of South Australia and beyond.

State Library of Victoria
is a sanctuary where time itself seems to linger among the shelves. This heritage-listed haven cradles the whispers of scholars long past. But now, a subtle transformation graces its sacred halls, a dance of tradition and innovation, orchestrated by the gentle glow of 3S Lighting linear LED fittings. These slender luminaires trace the intricate cornices, casting a warm glow upon the timber floor, their colour temperature adjustable, mimicking the shifting hues of dawn and dusk. A celebration of luminaires that transcend function, becoming art.
State Library Victoria’s Vision 2020 redevelopment was recognised in Victorian Architecture Awards, taking out the esteemed Melbourne Prize, as well as awards in the Heritage–Conservation and Public Architecture categories. It was also announced winner of the National Exemplar award at the 2021 ALIA Australian Library Design Awards.
The redevelopment, led by Architectus and Schmidt Hammer Lassen, increased public spaces by 40 per cent and seating by 70 per cent, transforming the iconic heritage building into a library for the future while maintaining the building’s beloved architectural heritage by delivering a world-leading emporium of knowledge to the people of Victoria.
State Library Victoria CEO, Kate Torney said it was an honour to be recognised by the ALIA awards. To quote, “The design of the Library’s Vision 2020 redevelopment seamlessly combines the historic beauty of the building with contemporary design solutions that reflect the changing needs of our community to create a true library of the future.’
This achievement highlights 3S lighting’s commitment to quality and innovation in the lighting industry. The team ensured that every luminaire met the highest standards, contributing to a beautifully illuminated and functional space. The project not only showcases technical expertise but also dedication to supporting local manufacturing and sustainability. We believe that well-designed lighting can transform environments, enhancing both aesthetics and usability. This award is a testament to the collaborative effort of designers, architects, and our skilled production team.
