With industry and market demands constantly changing, the off-road industry is no different.

Over the past few years, we've seen a significant shift towards BIGGER builds, HEAVIER loads and greater towing requirements — not only from our customers, but from our own R&D and product development at RED DUST FABRICATIONS.

The trusty 79 Series has been an important member of the RED DUST team, but moving with the market — and developing products for where the industry is heading — is crucial.

Our Spartan Series "LEONIDAS" is now punching a 4,500kg ATM, riding on Cruisemaster XT Freestyle Suspension.

The reality? While the 79 was capable of moving it, once we started looking closely at the numbers, it wasn't legal for the combination we needed.

So began around 8 months of research.

RAM.
Silverado LTZ.
Toyota Tundra.

We punched axle loads, towing capacities, GVM/GCM figures and real-world payload requirements over and over.

For what RED DUST needed, the Tundra came out on top.

And now, 15,000km in — we're confident we made the right choice.

Our Tundra is currently running:

Set up around towing, payload and real-world touring — not just looking good in the carpark.

We're currently carrying out R&D on our new RED DUST "Drop-In" Drawer System, incorporating:

2,000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter
Integrated touring power and storage
Designed around being removable, practical and adaptable

We'll do a full Tundra walk-around soon, because we've already had plenty of questions about the initial setup, suspension, towing and why we chose it over the other options.

For us, this isn't simply about buying a bigger tow vehicle.

We build it. We tow it. We test it. We learn from it. Then we take what we've learnt back to the design board.
