Grafton Redmen number 10 Miles Entwistle was in impeccable touch against the Kempsey Cannonballs on Saturday.
Entwistle constantly created opportunities for his outside backs as the Redmen ran in eight tries to one with a thumping 52-7 victory over the visitors.
Redmen first grade coach Gary Powell was full of praise of his side’s second win of the season and highlighted Grafton’s ability to apply pressure right from the opening kick-off.
“It was probably our best start to a game for a long while,” an elated Powell said after the game.
“There were so many good performances out there today and I thought Miles controlled the game with his ball distribution and kicking in general play.
“We are starting to hit our straps and combinations are slowly coming together. The problem is we have no games until we face Coffs Snappers in two weeks’ time.”
The Grafton backs ran riot over the opposition with Winger Jimmy Hammond, fullback Villiame Kele and scrum-half Ravuama Seruvakula each picking up a double.
But it was newcomer and winger Anasa Tutu which caught the coach’s eye.
“Anasa played his first game in the top grade today and was brilliant. He was electric every time he touched the ball,” Powell said.
“I decided to use the bench in the second half and young scrum-half Max Forwell proved he can handle first grade as did Fletcher McGrath who had an impact late in the game.
Grafton second grade went down 38-10 to Kempsey while the Redmen women’s side won on a forfeit.
