The first N90 Hilux chassis!

The customer has a lawn care business and needed a new ute to carry the ride on mower and all his other junk in style! A chassis extension, a heavily customized tray and a few extras here and there and he has a really practical, tough and good looking ute for work.

All aluminum and extremely strong for how light we managed to make it all.
All completed during the rainiest weeks of the year so far so he didn't even miss out on any work!

You can see from the loaded photo how much more space he's gained from the stock tub.

Another slide on build this week, this time on the trusty Dmax.

The customer want's to move from a caravan to a camper so we built him a well balanced vehicle to suit a used Active Camper he picked up at a reasonable price.

We were even able to sell a lot of the parts removed from his car to reduce his bill and get rid of old junk that would have piled up at home otherwise.

This is something different!

To get the GCM upgrade on the cruiser to pull this huge boat, the customer needed to have the Lovell's Haul Ace and load distribution bars installed and certified.

The load distribution bars are designed for traditional triangular drawbars, not aluminum I beam's.

Not a worry a few hours of designing and throwing ideas around in the engineering department we got a solution underway.

A couple of days later the customer was off to collect his boat.🎣🛥

It's unbelievable that this chassis survived that load and didn't break during the 2 years it was used like this! Not to mention the customer never got pulled up for the fact that his load was oversized!

The easy answer was a GVM upgrade, a chassis extension and a modified set-up to make it all interchangeable with his daily toolbox set-up.

The camper still looks huge on there, however the centre of gravity ended up 150mm behind axle centre and he scrapes in just under his new GVM.

If it says 'off-road' it better be 'off-road' capable, well it should be anyway!

This customer found out the hard way after putting his caravan through it's paces with some seriously remote travel he managed to snap the main cross member holding all the suspension in.

It turned out there was also an important section skipped during manufacture that didn't help.

This was a challenge for the boys as they couldn't cut out the old cross member as it was part of the main floor and would have cost more than replacing the whole caravan. They straightened it up, repaired all the cracks, made some heavy duty brace plates and added the missing gussets before replacing the rotating components and putting it all back together.

This was a technically challenging job and threw problems at every turn but they made it through as always!

Rust, Rust, Glorious Rust.

We recently did a post about rusty Toyota's and a few of you asked how we go about the repairs.

Here is a customers Prado that had some major rust and had been patched by a company in the past few years where they did little plates and then bogged it!

We cut off the entire rear of the chassis behind the wheels. Made up two new chassis rails both inside and out. Repaired the rear cross member which was surprisingly good. Added some inboard and outboard bracing. Then painted, sealed and certified the work before handing it back to the customer.

We don't do trays very often as we spend far too much time on them to make it profitable but when Joel reached out for help to finish off his HQ build we had to step up!

We did a significant amount of rust repairs on this car a few years ago and he's getting close to completion, so a nice new tray that he's going to take home and paint is just what the doctor ordered.

Toyotas and rust go hand in hand like chips and gravy!

We see soooo many Toyota's here at limitless, they all share the same thing in common.... not enough drainage.

Don't get me wrong, Toyota are great cars but they're useless as chassis design when it comes to longevity and maintenance. There are never enough drain holes and far too many sealed cavities where the mud and water can sit and rust away.

We fix them all!! We don't plate over or bodge them up, we cut out all the rust and repair them correctly! We also paint and seal them so there are no further issues.

Fix it once, fix it right!
