Hey everyone,
Bit of a wet day today, but it’s a good reminder that solar isn’t as simple as “bigger is always better.”
I was recently told by an electricity provider that over time, more networks are moving toward charging households to export excess solar back to the grid during the middle of the day , this is what’s often referred to as a “sun tax.”
New South Wales and South Australia already have export charges in place(sun tax) , and it’s likely other states will continue heading in that direction.
What this means is that installing the biggest system possible without understanding your usage, export limits, and future network changes may not always be the smartest financial move.
Solar and batteries can still make great financial sense , but the system needs to be designed properly for your household.
