A customer brought their Mazda CX-5 into our workshop after moving down from Canberra. A "prestige" service centre told him his front brake pads were down to 2mm and urged him to replace both rotors and pads right away.
​We pulled the wheels off to inspect them:
🔍 Right side: ~5mm remaining
🔍 Left side: 6–7mm remaining
At just 60,000 km, these pads still have thousands of kilometres of safe stopping power left.
​Instead of charging him hundreds for parts he didn't need:
1️⃣ Disassembled and cleaned the caliper carriers & hardware
2️⃣ Cleaned the pad shims
3️⃣ Greased the guide pins
