Most people think cracks are a “rendering problem.”
But what we see on site tells a very different story.
As renderers doing remedial work, we’re often called after the damage appears —
cracks, bubbling, drummy render, water ingress.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth 👇
Render usually isn’t the root cause.
It’s the movement underneath.
Before the first coat ever goes on, these decisions already matter:
• Ground conditions
• Structural movement
• Moisture and drainage
• How the substrate was prepared (or ignored)
What happens when the cause isn’t addressed?
• Cracks reappear
• Patches fail
• Waterproofing breaks down
• Clients end up paying twice
You can repaint walls.
You can re-render surfaces.
But if the underlying issue isn’t identified and treated properly,
the problem will always come back.
Good remedial work isn’t about making it look good today —
it’s about making sure it still looks good years later.
