The person who designed our first logo was seventeen at the time.
Not seventeen and muddling through. Seventeen and already qualified. Emma finished school in Year 10, went straight to uni and had her first paid gig by seventeen. That first paid job was our logo.
Her dad was a plant mechanic and hydraulic engineer. He knew Dom through the industry and put the two of them together. That little yellow logo became the start of everything for us.
What we didn't know until recently was the rest of her story. Emma took a path that didn't look like everyone else's and it worked. She's since built her own business, Watts Cooking | Community Nutrition โจ๐ด, running community nutrition and freelancing as a designer in the education space.
And here's the part that stuck with us. That early start is exactly why she now chooses to homeschool her own kids. She saw first-hand that learning doesn't have to follow one set track.
It's a belief our founders share, homeschooling their own kids too. Different family, same thinking. That kids can learn in a way that actually fits them.
One introduction, from one bloke, back when none of us knew where it would lead. And in the twist none of us saw coming, the kids now go to the same bush school. Ten years on from that first logo, the two families cross paths again without even planning it.
Turns out we had more in common than a logo.
