Over the Easter weekend, we created the world's first standalone heart-rate tracking AR sunglasses with a HD full-color display
Technically we achieved that in June last year, with our 2nd prototype that was functional but not wearable
Today we release our 5th prototype of Minimis Flow that's fully standalone, functional and wearable; our strongest prototype ever
It contains optical heart rate sensors, ANT+, BLE, eSIM LTE, GPS, WiFi, accelerometer, gyroscope, temperature, pressure, ambient light sensors, octa-core 2.2GHz CPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, full HD 60hz 16-color display @ 1100 nits, all running on a custom Android OS built for athletes
Working over two public holidays and a weekend is not our first preference, alas our electronics and frames arrived a week late only on Thursday evening due to the Iran war and fuel chaos, and the team could not sit idly by without making it work
The last few days were fraught with close failures and near misses - I'm so incredibly proud of the team for their perseverance and ingenuity in ultimately getting it to work
This is a monumental moment in our 3.5 year journey and has proven my conviction that we can still export innovative consumer hardware from Australia
Thank you to our development partners Daira Engineering & LetinAR whose close collaboration allowed us to achieve this feat no giants have
A special thanks to Leah Lucas & Katie Green from CSIRO Lindfield Collaboration Hub for their consistent unwavering support, granting us emergency after-hours access to the world-class facilities to enable this achievement
Next step - consumer testing! If you are a runner or cyclist in Australia and would like to test these, leave a comment below to link up :)
