On this ANZAC Day, we are reminded of those who served before us. Not just for their sacrifice, but for the values that defined them: fairness, courage, mateship, and a steadfast sense of duty.
We remember that our country is not defined by its loudest voices or its most confronting headlines, but by the values of its people. By our willingness to stay grounded, reflect on our actions without losing perspective, and to treat one another with decency even when we disagree.
Australia has always been at its best when it chooses unity over division, clarity over noise, and proactivity over reactivity. That doesn’t mean we should avoid hard truths, but rather face them with honesty and integrity, and keep focus on that which binds us together, and makes us unique, as a people.
However you choose to spend your today - whether it be a camping trip with mates, a well earned sleep-in and relax, or with a Dawn Service and day of reflection - take a moment to honour the legacy we’ve inherited, and reaffirm our shared commitment to something better and a fairer go for all.
