🎉 Happy 3rd Anniversary to the Northern Goldfields Interconnect! 🎉

Today, we are celebrating exactly three years since the official opening of the 580-kilometre NGI pipeline! This incredible piece of infrastructure was the "missing link" in Western Australia’s gas network, successfully connecting the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline directly to the Goldfields Gas Pipeline.

The NGI is much more than just a pipeline... it is a cornerstone of energy security for WA. By creating a massive 2,690-kilometre interconnected gas pipeline system across the state, the NGI provides unmatched flexibility and ensures a reliable domestic gas supply gets to where it is needed most.

It plays a critical role in backing the Western Australian resources sector, supporting long-term economic growth in key industries like critical minerals, and giving project owners the confidence that reliable energy is available to bring new developments to market.

As we continue to navigate the energy transition, the NGI ensures that our resources and industrial customers can operate securely while delivering on their broader decarbonisation objectives.

Here’s to the incredible teams who built it and the vital role the NGI continues to play in securing Australia's energy future! ⚡👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

📸 Dusting off the archives! Back in 1995 and 1996, crews worked tirelessly to lay the groundwork for the 1,375-kilometre Moomba Sydney Ethane Pipeline (MSEP) which was recently converted from ethane to natural gas. As we celebrate its newest chapter, we wanted to take a moment to look back at where it all began with these incredible photos captured during the pipeline's original construction.

Fast forward nearly 30 years, and this historic piece of infrastructure has just been given a new lease on life. A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone across APA Group involved in successfully repurposing the MSEP from ethane to natural gas!

Building directly on the legacy of those original construction crews, our teams have worked seamlessly to ensure this network can now deliver up to 25 terajoules of additional gas capacity each day from the Cooper Basin to customers across NSW and into the east coast market.

It is a fantastic milestone that strengthens our supply during periods of peak winter demand, provides greater operational flexibility across APA’s network, and improves resilience when responding to maintenance and outages.

Check out the classic construction gallery below to see how it all started! 👇

Were you around during the original construction in the 90s, or do you have your own stories from working on the MSEP? Drop your memories in the comments below! 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

A huge congratulations and thank you to everyone across APA involved in successfully repurposing the Moomba Sydney Ethane Pipeline from ethane to natural gas! 🎉

Our brilliant teams worked together seamlessly to repurpose this 1,375-kilometre pipeline, converting it to transport natural gas. Thanks to their hard work, the network can now deliver up to 25 terajoules of additional gas capacity each day from the Cooper Basin to customers across NSW and into the east coast market.

The pipeline strengthens supply during periods of peak winter demand, provides greater operational flexibility across APA’s network and improves resilience when responding to maintenance and outages.

Today, we announced a milestone: the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has approved our $213 million expansion of the South West Pipeline in Victoria. But to understand where we are going, it helps to look at where we started.

Before we break ground on this critical new expansion, we’re dusting off the archives to celebrate the people and the legacy that laid the foundation for the Victorian Transmission System (VTS).

Our story officially started in June 2000 when we emerged from AGL to list on the ASX. Back then, we were a small team of just six people managing 7,000 kilometres of gas pipelines. Since those early days, generations of our crews have worked tirelessly, often in demanding physical conditions, to build and maintain the infrastructure that keeps the gas flowing for Victorian homes and businesses.

Fast forward to today, and we are proud to be Australia’s largest gas pipeline operator, managing over 15,000 kilometres of pipelines nationwide.

The upcoming South West Pipeline expansion is the next chapter in this proud history. It’s about building on the hard work of the crews in these photos to ensure we continue delivering reliable, secure, and affordable energy for Victoria as we navigate the energy transition.
