In 1975, building the Moomba to Sydney Pipeline meant 50°C heat, knee-high bull dust, and pipe trucks that kept getting bogged while the welders closed in behind them.

The pipeline was built 1974–76 and is currently owned and operated by APA.

Keeping it local in Katherine and the Big Rivers Region! 🚜✨

When Ryan Butterworth and Maddie Farrington moved back home to the Territory to raise their family and grow Butterworth Industries, they wanted to create more than just an earthmoving business… they wanted to build lasting opportunities for local families.

Today, they employ ~22 people locally, with 50% of their crew being Indigenous. Their team lives in town, their kids attend local schools, and their roots run deep throughout our community.

As a key subcontractor that provided civil excavation, roadworks, and earthmoving packages for APA Group's Sturt Plateau Pipeline, Butterworth Industries is showing the world what regional businesses can do. Best of all, that investment stays local, allowing them to get behind community events like the Daly Waters Campdraft and support the Katherine Show Society's rodeo and equestrian events!

Big news for Queensland’s energy future! 🔋🌿

APA Group and CS Energy have officially partnered to build the new Brigalow Peaking Power Plant near Chinchilla.

This 400MW gas power station will play a vital role in keeping our power grid reliable and affordable. It will provide fast-start dispatchable energy generation capacity to complement variable renewable energy, stepping in when needed to deliver enough power for the equivalent of more than 150,000 homes.

Construction is already underway, with major works progressing towards a 2029 completion target. The project aligns with the Queensland Government’s Energy Roadmap, helping to balance energy security, everyday affordability, and our transition to a cleaner future.

We’re proud to be bringing this important infrastructure to life, ensuring Queenslanders have the reliable power they need for years to come. ⚡🏡

Big numbers with real impact ☀️🔋 APA's Sybella Creek solar and battery project in Mount Isa is getting a 72 MW solar farm. That is equivalent to almost 11,000 average home solar systems. It is also getting a 52 MW, 104 MWh battery energy storage system, which can store the equivalent of more than 7,500 home batteries.

Backed by firming capacity from our gas-fired Diamantina Power Station, these new assets will deliver reliable, lower cost and lower emissions energy for the Mount Isa region.
