Twenty years. Built layer by layer!

To mark 20 years of Martinus, we sat down for a long-form conversation on how the business evolved from a single turnout into a whole-of-network delivery partner trusted on some of world’s most complex rail programs.

Hosted by our Executive Coach, Craig Boothroyd, the convo brings together Treaven Martinus, Toby Briggs and Ryan Baden, three people who have been part of the journey from the early days and helped build the business from the ground up.

The discussion goes beyond milestones and project wins. It unpacks the decisions, delivery philosophies and cultural choices that shaped how Martinus works today, and why layering capability, backing people and staying lean has mattered more than chasing scale.

This is a reflection on building differently, and what two decades of doing the work actually looks like.

Two short years ago, Hamilton Currie was working in earthmoving and looking for a career change. Hamilton saw a career in rail as an opportunity to “try something new and see more of Australia.”

After completing a four-week course he joined Martinus in March 2024 and has worked across multiple sites in regional New South Wales. For Hamilton, the career change has been a good move. “I have supervisors and superintendents that have taught me a lot about rail and are always encouraging me to upgrade my skills.”

“Martinus has positively affected all areas of my life, I have met great friends that I get to work with everyday. I’d love to continue working in rail, I’d like to continue expanding my skills on the ground and also operating machinery.”

Investing in workers like Hamilton builds a robust rail industry and the next generation of track experts. Experts that allow Martinus to deliver world-class rail infrastructure now and into the future.

Exciting progress at Loganlea station!

We’re excited to share a major milestone for the Loganlea Station Relocation Project! The first sections of the new platform have been installed, marking an important step forward for this upgrade.

Over two weeks in November 2025, 144 modular panels – each weighing 5 tonnes – were carefully installed. Once completed, the platform will be 162 metres long and 9 metres wide, forming the foundation of the new station.

The project also includes new canopy structures to provide better shade and weather protection for everyone using the station.

This milestone reflects our ongoing work to deliver a modern and accessible station for the Loganlea community.

Stay tuned for more updates as the station continues to take shape!

The Albury to Illabo section of brings a wide scope across 185km of live corridor. Dual hubs, new bridges, realignments, level crossings, and signalling upgrades. Every detail counts, including how we protect the world outside our site boundaries.

Ahead of any site lay downs, our environment team has spent the last three months in the field collecting water samples, logging clarity, odour, pH, turbidity, and more. The goal: establish baselines so we know, in real time, if construction is having an impact.

This is part of the prep that makes delivery at scale possible. The same forward thinking mindset and level of care goes into every stream and permit as it does into a track realignment or bridge install.

A big finish to AusRAIL with a night that brought together clients, partners and long-time friends of Martinus. A room full of people who care about rail, push hard for better outcomes and make this industry what it is.

Events like this remind us why we do the work. Strong relationships, open conversations and a shared commitment to building the future of rail. It felt good to step away from the rush, catch up properly and enjoy the work we’re building together.

Thanks to everyone who joined us. Nights like this show the strength of the industry and the culture behind it.

At the Loganlea Station Relocation site, piling and reinforcement works have progressed into the station structure, with 221 concrete pours now complete. This milestone marks the completion of all piling on the south side of the station, with 390 piles still to be delivered on the north side.

Our civil and structural teams are working in close coordination to sequence retaining wall construction, pile installation and bulk earthworks. This integrated approach ensures continuity across disciplines and maximises onsite efficiency.

On peak construction days we’re pouring up to 180 cubic metres of concrete. Prefabricated reinforcement cages, which serve as the structural cores of the piles, are delivered just in time to maintain site accessibility and operational flow.

The site continues to present unique interface challenges, located alongside a live Queensland Rail corridor, a major hospital and a high school. Every activity requires precise scheduling, stakeholder engagement and proactive planning to maintain safety and minimise disruption.

With foundations established and the platform wall now taking shape, delivery is progressing into the next phase of works. Platform and concourse construction will continue into the new year, with the station set to open in 2027 as a major transport hub connecting Loganlea’s health and education precincts.

That’s a wrap on AusRAIL! The highlight this year was spending time with the people who help us deliver: the clients we work shoulder to shoulder with and the Friends of Martinus who bring real capability, ideas and accountability to complex rail.

Across the week, the conversations were clear and consistent. Early alignment is what makes brownfield delivery predictable. Shared planning is what keeps communities moving during major works. And the strongest solutions often start with the people who are closest to the job, not the paperwork.

Thanks to everyone who dropped in, asked the hard questions and shared what they are seeing across the field. The week was a reminder that good delivery is never done alone, and our industry is at its best when the right people are in the room early.

Thirty-five Martinus staff lined up in Wagga Wagga’s Victory Memorial Gardens at sunrise on Sunday for the first Wagga Half Marathon.

Our team joined 650 runners along the Wiradjuri Track, a course that follows the Murrumbidgee River, a waterway that’s connected communities for thousands of years.

Events like this bring our teams together and strengthen the relationships we’ve built within the communities we live and work in.

A huge thank you to the organisers, volunteers and everyone who made the Wagga Half Marathon such a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Heading to ? Come find us. We’re looking to connect with the people driving the next wave of practical innovation in rail.

At Martinus, smarter delivery means one thing: performance in the field. We focus on improving what works today while testing what could make tomorrow better. Pilot small. Learn fast. Scale what works.

Our Friends of Martinus partners are a big part of that. Early involvement, shared accountability and honest problem-solving lead to better outcomes and better ideas.

If you’re working on scalable, safe and real-world innovation, we’d like to hear from you. You can also register your capability through Felix if you’re looking to join our supplier network.

At the Loganlea Station Relocation site, every tonne – more than 750 tonnes! – of concrete waste has been recovered and diverted from landfill, over that last six months of construction.

On a site surrounded by live rail, hospital access, busy roads and schools, early planning was critical. Our engineering, sustainability and enviro teams put the right processes and equipment in place from day one, with close coordination across delivery keeping everything on track.

It’s how we deliver strong environmental outcomes while managing the complexity of major infrastructure builds in busy urban environments.

When someone’s keen to learn, we don’t wait. We make it happen. Hasanga Malalasekara, a final-year UNSW student, spent ten weeks with our Community and Stakeholder Engagement team after struggling to find an internship. One of our team heard her story and we organised a placement within a week.

“At uni it’s all very theoretical, but I wanted some practical skills to go into the workforce, so I was so happy to get the chance to do that. I feel like everyone made a big effort to include me in things.”

During her time with us, Hasanga gained hands-on experience across community engagement, from drafting updates to supporting on-the-ground activities.

We’re proud to support emerging professionals and help build the next generation of talent in rail.
