We’re proud to partner with UNSW to fund research into more sustainable concrete. We believe the drive to reduce waste, recycle materials and build things that stand the test of time, will transform the building industry faster than we imagine. At XL Group we want to help lead the charge.

The smart team at UNSW’s School of Civil & Environmental Engineering are getting close to developing optimum replacements for sand and cement powder created entirely from existing waste. It has the potential to reduce emissions by 30-40% compared to traditional concrete production.

XL Group is striving to give back by sourcing sustainable alternatives for concrete, one of the most carbon tolling substances known to man. There will be huge demand for renewable concrete products for roads, paths, driveways, slabs and structures. So not only is it smart business, it’s the right thing to do for the country, the world, our people and our families.

NATIONAL GROWTH: Beyond NSW, we’re growing our manufacturing plant in WA - hiring new supervisors, concreters, formworkers, fitters and steel fixers & building two new warehouses in QLD.

NEW BUSINESS: We launched XL I-Mix Concrete and invested in revolutionary volumetric concrete batching plants that mix concrete on demand. We just commissioned our third truck.

NEW QLD PLANT: Despite challenges, it's full speed ahead with building two new warehouses in South East QLD to serve a growing market.

R&D INVESTMENTS: We’re passionate about funding research into environmentally friendly concrete alternatives with the help our research partner University of NSW. Stay tuned!

XL Precast is excited to be part of the build of a truly unique precast concrete home in Perth, WA. It’s so special that it will be featured on an upcoming episode of Grand Designs Australia.

The striking home is the result of a collaborative between builder Collier Homes and architect Nic Brunsdon. We can’t wait to reveal their finished product when the show airs later this year. For more photos from the team head see

Being so passionate about the endless flexibility and practicality of precast concrete products, we love sinking our teeth into innovative designs from creative architects and builders. The brief was inspired by small footprint homes in Japan to make the most of a compact inner-city block.
