Genex Power

Genex Power Genex Power develops a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and storage projects in Australia.

Genex Power Limited is focused on developing a portfolio of renewable energy generation and storage projects across Australia. The Company’s flagship Kidston Clean Energy Hub, located in north Queensland, will integrate large-scale solar generation with pumped storage hydro and wind energy. The Kidston Clean Energy Hub is comprised of the operating 50MW stage 1 Solar Project (KS1) and the 250MW Ki

dston Pumped Storage Hydro Project (K2-Hydro) with potential for further multi-stage wind and solar projects. The 50MW Jemalong Solar Project (JSP) is located in NSW and provides geographical diversification to the Genex Power Limited portfolio. JSP was energised in early December 2020 and is now fully operational. Genex is further developing its energy storage portfolio via the early-stage development of a 50MW standalone battery energy storage system at Bouldercombe in Queensland. With over 400MW of renewable energy & storage projects in development, Genex is well placed as Australia’s leading listed renewable energy and storage company. Genex continues to acknowledge the support of key Federal and State Government stakeholders such as the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF), the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) and the Queensland State Government. Last month, our new Operations Manager Nick Morton, visited Jemalong Solar Farm near Forbes in Central NSW — a 50 MW facility that has been one of our flagship renewable energy projects since commissioning in 2021.

During the visit, Nick conducted an inspection of the site's infrastructure — including the solar panels and combiner boxes, the medium voltage power stations, the low and high voltage switchboards, protection relays, power plant controller, 33/66 kV export transformer and harmonic filter system.

The visit provided valuable insight into the ongoing operations and performance of the Jemalong Solar Farm and reinforced Genex’s commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient renewable energy generation. ☀️ 🌱

This year’s Millmerran Show was held from 28 February to 1 March 2026, inviting the local community, families and businesses for a weekend which celebrated the diversity and talent of the region.

Project Managers Amy Crowley and James Birkmanis represented Genex Power, hosting a community stall and sharing updates on the Bulli Creek Clean Energy Park. They welcomed residents, landholders, business owners, and families for open conversations about construction timelines, employment opportunities and the long-term benefits that the project aims to deliver for Millmerran and the surrounding district.

A highlight of the weekend was Lachie Cossor’s Outback Stockman Show, which delivered engaging insights into the stories and traditions of the Australian bush through expert horsemanship and traditional stock work.

We congratulate all competition winners, including those who took part in the Show Campdraft, Jack Russell Hustle, Dachshund Dash, Woodchop, Junior and Rough Stock Rodeo events, as well as the various incredible competitions that demonstrated the breadth and depth of talent in the region.

Genex is a proud sponsor of the 2026 Millmerran Show and remains committed to supporting the Millmerran community. Thank you to the Millmerran Show Society for hosting another fantastic event, and to everyone who stopped by our stand to connect with our team. We look forward to continuing the conversation as the Bulli Creek Clean Energy Park progresses.

Recently, Genex Power received a request from its Kidston neighbours George and Miranda Ryan to name the wet mess at the Oaks Rush the “Shamrock” in memory of the Shamrock Hotel in Kidston in the early 1990s, which was owned and run by George’s great great grandfather G D Ryan (pictured 5th from the left).

The Oaks Rush Wet Mess is now officially named the “Shamrock”, with the new sign hanging above the bar at the Oaks Rush! The Oaks Rush Wet Mess forms an integral part of the Oaks Rush Accommodation Resort which houses the construction team associated with the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project.

The Queensland Labor government has announced a new 80% renewable energy target for 2035. The State Government plans to attract $62 billion in green energy investment over the next 13 years, completely ending its reliance on coal power!

Genex Power already has a strong presence in Queensland and is well placed to continue building its portfolio in the State over the coming years. In addition to our operating 50MW Kidston Solar Project, construction is well progressed at our flagship 250MW/2000MWh Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project and 50MW/100MWh Bouldercombe Battery Project and we are continuing development works at our 200MW Kidston Wind Project.

Pumped Hydro Energy Storage converts the energy of moving water into electricity!

Excess energy from the electrical grid or other renewable energy sources is used during low demand periods to pump water from a lower dam to a higher one. The upper reservoir, which essentially acts as a battery, can then release stored energy into the lower reservoir as required. From the lower dam, electricity is immediately fed into the grid, powering homes and business across Australia!

Genex Power is currently constructing its flagship 250MW/2000MWh Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Kidston, Queensland. The project is being constructed by EPC Contractors, McConnell Dowell and John Holland and remains on schedule for energisation by the end of CY2024.

The project will integrate both our existing Solar Project and planned Wind Project at Kidston, which will provide the excess energy needed to pump water from the lower dam to the upper one.

Storage is key to our clean energy future. Pumped hydro is just one of the proven technologies that will play a role. But how does it work? Water ... 39 comments on LinkedIn

Genex Power and its partners have taken mine rehabilitation of the former Kidston Gold Mine in Northern Queensland to a new level, by rehabilitating the mine into a world first, clean energy hub that combines wind, solar and hydro storage.

This move will provide a number of jobs and power homes in the region as well help the Queensland Government achieve its 50 percent renewable energy target by 2030.

We are thrilled that construction activities during the month of March and April are continuing to ramp up onsite for the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project, with activities delivered on time and remaining within budget.

Our team's recent visit to the project site, was incredibly excited to see the large scale iconic renewable infrastructure being developed in person and we can't wait to update you as further development takes place!

Thank you to our partners McConnell Dowell and John Holland for ongoing hard work and support!
