Stowe as an 'Employer Partner' attended a special MobReady event last week as part of NAIDOC. It was a great event with lots of informative discussion. It's exciting to see the growth Mob Ready has had over the past 12 months, what their plans are for the future, and how their Employer Partners such as Stowe can continue to create positive impact through indigenous employment.

Stowe Queensland wins at NECA!

On Friday 17 July 2026, Stowe Australia’s Queensland Construction Branch was recognised for its outstanding delivery of The Glasshouse Theatre, winning the NECA Training and Apprenticeships (NECA) Queensland Award for Best Commercial Large Project.

Part of the QPAC precinct in the Southbank area of Brisbane, the Glasshouse Theatre project commenced in 2020 and was completed in early 2026. It is now a world-class venue featuring a 1,500-seat intimate auditorium which delivers an outstanding audience experience. Its state-of-the-art curved glass façade overlooks the Brisbane River and city skyline, creating a striking addition to Queensland’s cultural and physical landscape.

The project also received a Highly Commended award for its lighting design and installation, further highlighting the quality, expertise, and dedication demonstrated by the team.

Queensland Construction Manager Glen Griffith served as the original Project Manager before the role transitioned to Joel Dotta in early 2024. Joel was supported by Corey Leechburch, who later assumed full project management responsibilities and successfully led the project through to completion.

Special mention also goes to our team at the Mater Hospital Springfield under Senior Project Manager Luke Gage and Phil Watts, who were finalists in the Commercial Extra Large Project category, narrowly missing the top award and underscoring the highly competitive nature of the category and the exceptional quality of their work.

These achievements are a testament to the commitment, expertise and professionalism of our people. We extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to all field staff, supervisors, administration and project management team members whose contributions have earned this well-deserved recognition.

Apprentice Development Day 2026

On Friday 10 July, Stowe proudly hosted our Annual Sydney Apprentice Development Day at West HQ Rooty Hill, reflecting Stowe's ongoing commitment to the development of our apprentices.

This supports them on their journey as lifelong learners, provides them with the opportunity to enhance their technical skills, expands their industry knowledge, and helps them stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, current industry standards and best workplace practices.

Scott Gandy, Director provided the welcoming address, reinforcing the day's theme of 'Teamwork' – a value that sits at the heart of every successful business, every high-performing team, and everything we do. Success is rarely achieved by individuals working alone but from groups of people sharing knowledge, supporting one another, communicating openly, and working towards common goals.

We asked our apprentices to embrace three important mindsets – Resilience, Learning and Innovation – that helps people and teams succeed.

A resilient person has a growth mindset – they embrace challenges, strive to learn and improve, understand that purposeful practice leads to progress, actively seek feedback (viewing it as a learning opportunity) and recognise that failure is not the end of the journey but part of it.

A learning mindset is an exercise in humility. People who demonstrate this believe they can learn from everyone around them, that potential isn't fixed and that new skills can be developed through effort, persistence, practice and taking time to understand complex problems.

Lastly – an innovation mindset (also one of our core Stowe values) starts with curiosity. Curious people actively seek new ideas and different perspectives and are energised by hearing opinions that challenge their own; they value collaboration and agility, openly sharing information and working with colleagues rather than competing against them.

These mindsets don't just help individuals succeed – they strengthen teams, improve performance, and help create a positive culture here at Stowe.

Thank you to our dedicated Stowe trainers and our valued industry partners who delivered hands-on learning experiences and practical sessions on the day: SafeWork NSW, headspace Mt Druitt, CABAC, TechRentals, NHP Electrical Engineering Products, TLE, Klein Tools Australia, Milwaukee Tools Australia, Panduit and Wesco Anixter. Your continued support and expertise play an important role in developing the next generation of electrical professionals.

As an innovative leader in the industry, we recognise that our apprentices are the future of our business and our industry, playing a vital role in our success and helping us innovate, grow, and deliver the high standards our customers expect. Investing in their development today helps build a safer, more skilled, and innovative workforce for tomorrow.

NAIDOC Week

National NAIDOC Week is held across Australia each year during the first week of July; it aims to “celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.” (NAIDOC website).

This year the theme ‘50 Years Deadly’ marks a milestone in the movement, and celebrates “looking back at the stories, the marches, the languages, the art, the leadership. And the strength it took to get here.”

Stowe’s commitment to indigenous inclusion forms part of our vision and strategy, and we currently have several key initiatives that are embedded into the fabric of our business.

Firstly, as we celebrate NAIDOC Week, we're proud to reflect on the progress we've made in supporting Indigenous businesses. This includes our partnership with Supply Nation, Australia’s largest directory of verified Indigenous businesses who also facilitate connections between Indigenous businesses and corporate and government partners.

Since becoming a Supply Nation member 15 months ago, Stowe has reported $14.6 million in procurement with Indigenous businesses, representing more than 3% of our total procurement spend.

Partnering with Indigenous businesses strengthens our supply chain while contributing to greater economic opportunities and supporting the growth of Indigenous enterprise, and we look forward to continuing this journey and building lasting partnerships.

As part of our apprenticeship intake, Stowe is also heavily committed to encouraging, supporting and growing our Indigenous intake both in the cities and regions – something which is an ongoing and expansive initiative year on year.

Last year in 2025, one of our mature-age apprentices via My Gateway Brendan Syron took out the top Apprentice Employment Network NSW & ACT Award after changing careers in 2022 and commencing an electrical apprenticeship.

On behalf of Stowe, we would like to wish NAIDOC a happy 50 years, and encourage everyone to visit the NAIDOC website to check out local events happening in your community this week.
