Taking a quick break from all things line marking to put a spotlight on one of our own.

📣We're proud to shout out Rick McGrath, part of the Kenex team and founder of Autism Dad

Rick started Autism Dad as a page to share the reality of raising his son, Benji, who has Level 3 ASD, and to help break the stigma around dads speaking openly about the harder parts of parenting.

What began as one page has grown into a community, with other parents sharing their own experiences raising non-verbal children.

Rick and his wife, Katrina, now organise monthly playdates across Western Sydney, run at their own expense, giving families a space to connect with others who understand.

We're proud to have Rick on the team, and just as proud of the community he's built outside of it. 👏💚

Have there been any changes on your warehouse floor lately?

Perhaps new equipment, a different pick route, extra racking, or a shift in how forklifts and people move through the site?

If so, it's worth checking your Traffic Management Plan is still up to date, and that the line marking on the floor still matches it.

Wet weather isn't the only thing that affects how safe a surface feels underfoot. A few other factors play a part too:

❌ A sealer or topcoat added over existing line marking, often just to freshen up the look
❌ Poor or missing surface prep before the marking went down in the first place

Neither of these shows up on a dry day. Both can affect grip once it rains.

If you're worried your pedestrian crossings or high-traffic walkways might be slippery in wet weather, especially in a warehouse or commercial space, don't wait for an incident to happen.

☔We're in the middle of a cold, wet stretch across the country. For outdoor line marking, especially in high-pedestrian areas, that means an increased risk of slips once the surface is wet.

If your line marking is looking worn or feels slippery underfoot, it might be time for a touch-up or a re-mark before the next downpour makes the call for you.

Not all line marking coatings are built for the same job. A high-traffic warehouse floor, with constant forklift and pallet movement, needs a long-life product built to handle that load.

The right coating for a warehouse isn't the same as the right coating for a car park. Match the product to the traffic, and it lasts a lot longer.

Having car park hardware installed and having it installed properly are two different things.

A bollard drilled in where it was easy, not where the traffic really is. A wheel stop set too far forward, so cars still stick out over the walkway. It’s all there and looks fine, but it’s not really protecting what it should.

With hardware, installing it and placing it correctly are not the same thing.
