MEET THE TEAM | Mehdi Shayestehfar

Meet Mehdi Shayestehfar, Head of Engineering at Ti2 Group.

Mehdi’s work sits firmly at the practical end of engineering, spanning industrial automation, control systems and R&D, with a focus on turning engineering concepts into solutions that work in the real world.

With a background in manufacturing and industrial environments, Mehdi understands that engineering doesn’t stop when a system is commissioned.

A solution needs to be reliable on the factory floor, practical during commissioning, straightforward to maintain and fit for purpose over the long term.

That lifecycle perspective shapes the way Mehdi approaches engineering at Ti2.

He also brings a vendor-agnostic approach, focusing first on the application and technical requirements rather than allowing a particular hardware brand or proprietary ecosystem to dictate the architecture.

At Ti2, this means working with open technologies, open-source frameworks and vendor-agnostic solutions to build systems that clients can own, understand and control.

The role of AI is also becoming increasingly important. Mehdi sees AI not as a replacement for engineering experience, but as a way to make experienced engineers more effective — helping with documentation, troubleshooting, analysis and the heavy lifting that can otherwise consume valuable engineering time.

For Mehdi, the objective is straightforward:
Keep engineering practical. Avoid unnecessary complexity. Build systems that are stable, useful and maintainable.

Ti2 | Open Automation. Real Engineering.

What does open automation look like in operation?

The IICA Sydney Technology Expo gave Ti2 the opportunity to showcase exactly that, both at our exhibition stand and through our participation in the CODESYS Corner.

And, quite simply, we loved it.

CODESYS is a technology we are genuinely passionate about because it challenges the traditional idea that control software and hardware must come from the same manufacturer.

Engineers can work within a common IEC 61131-3 engineering environment while selecting hardware that best suits the application.

This provides greater flexibility across controller performance, I/O, communications, industrial computing, availability and system architecture, rather than designing around a single hardware vendor.

At the CODESYS Corner, Ti2 demonstrated this through live hardware and applications, including high-speed digital I/O, real-time logic, SoftPLC, CODESYS WebVisu and multi-vendor integration.

But open automation is about more than technology. It is about having the freedom to engineer the right solution for the application.

Ti2 works with a broad network of technology partners, including Festo and Softing, alongside ARBOR Technology, Berghof Automation, CMZ, Elastel, ELGENS, Helmholz, Janz Tec, MPL and ODOT Automation.
