Maleny - Bald K**b, Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
With its curved balconies, large glass openings and views across the surrounding landscape, this home has plenty of reasons to open the doors and spend time outside.
We came into the project during the final stages of the build, after the owners realised how much effort it took to open and close the large sliding doors. Once they discovered that automation could be retrofitted, we worked with the team to find a solution for the existing doors.
By this stage, the walls and ceilings were already sheeted, so mounting the motors and getting cabling where it needed to go took some working through.
Steve and Simone from SX Constructions helped bring it all together, with the builder developing the mounting structure for our motors. We worked alongside Brad from Vision Solutions on the existing doors and Jackson from Zenith Electrical to get the cabling to our motors and controls.
A big thank you to everyone involved. Adding automation this late in a build takes cooperation, and we really appreciated the team’s willingness to work through the details with us.
The owners can now open and close their doors comfortably and enjoy the connection between the home, terraces and landscape. With a setting like this, it would have been a shame for those openings to go unused simply because the doors were too heavy to move.
