What do elite netball and high-performing mining operations have in common? More than you would think.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting West Coast Fever players Ruth Aryang, Alice Teague-Neeld, Olivia Wilkinson, and Zoe Cransberg at our Perth office for a panel session with our team across WA.

Joined by Gold Industry Group CEO Kristy O’Reilly and members of the WCF high-performance team, the panel dived into what it really takes to perform under pressure - from mastering breathwork and visualisation on the court to building trust across diverse teams and bouncing back from major setbacks.

The session was a powerful reminder that whether you're on the court or on site, success comes down to communication, trust, and showing up consistently every day.

A big thank you to the West Coast Fever, Netball WA and the Gold Industry Group teams for stopping by and inspiring our team!

At AngloGold Ashanti, we believe that our purpose - mining to empower people and advance societies - extends far beyond our operations. It's about building bridges, sharing knowledge, and fostering global connections that uplift Indigenous communities.

Last week, the Tropicana gold mine was incredibly proud to welcome a delegation of Canadian First nations leaders as part of a landmark visit organised by the Goldfields Aboriginal Business Chamber (GABC) and our business partner Kai Rho Contracting.

Part of the British Columbia/Yukon Young Indigenous Leaders Exchange Pilot Program to the Indo-Pacific, this visit brought together Indigenous leaders, economic development professionals, cultural practitioners, and government officials from across British Columbia and the Yukon.

Showcasing our operations to these bright young minds reinforces our commitment to sustainable mining that empowers the next generation of global leaders.

We want to extend a huge thank you to the delegates, the Advisory Circle, and the GABC for including Tropicana on this incredible itinerary alongside Australia's major capital cities.

Together, we are proving that responsible mining can be a powerful catalyst for human connection and economic empowerment.

At AngloGold Ashanti Australia, we are proud to stand alongside our host communities, traditional owners and First Nations colleagues to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026.

This year holds an incredible milestone as we reflect on the national theme: “50 Years of Deadly”.

In Aboriginal culture, “deadly” means excellent, inspiring, and powerful - a perfect reflection of the enduring strength, resilience, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Here’s to 50 years of strength, pride, and cultural continuity. Still deadly. Always.

At AngloGold Ashanti Australia, our commitment to sustainability and community goes far beyond our operations – it’s about investing in a healthier and more resilient future.

This week we had the incredible opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art Phage Therapy facility, a partnership between The Kids Research Institute Australia, Perth Children's Hospital Foundation, and the Perth Children's Hospital.

As antimicrobial resistance poses one of the biggest global health challenges of our time, seeing this groundbreaking research up close was truly inspiring.

Phage therapy – using specialised viruses found in the environment to target and eliminate superbugs – represents a massive leap forward in healthcare, and it’s happening right here in WA.

We are proud to partner with and support the brilliant minds at the Phage Therapy facility and the important work they are doing.

Thank you to the incredible staff who guided us through the laboratories, shared their vision, and showed us first-hand how collaborative innovation can change and save lives.

Inspiring the next generation of leaders 🌟

We were proud to be part of the Shooting Stars Leadership Camp, a 7-day program dedicated to empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women through leadership, culture, and personal growth.

As part of the experience, the AngloGold Ashanti Australia team recently joined two fantastic events:

• Shooting Stars Careers Day: A vibrant, round-robin networking event. Participants rotated through meetings with different organisations, building confidence, practicing networking skills, and exploring exciting future career pathways.

• National Reconciliation Week West Coast Fever Game: Alongside our Gold Industry Group partners, we cheered on the girls as they took part in a special pre-game event and stepped onto the court for a thrilling quarter-time shoot-off!

It was a privilege to spend time with these inspiring young leaders Shakiah and Lizzy.

Events like this play an important role in opening doors, building confidence, and celebrating culture.

We are thrilled to partner with Shooting Stars and support such a powerful initiative.

What a wonderful way to mark National Reconciliation Week!

We recently hosted a Lunch & Learn session with our long-time community partner Dandjoo Darbalung and students Tom, Maddie and Charlee.

Our team loved hearing firsthand about the incredible work being done by Dandjoo Darbalung to support Indigenous students through:

Academic success

Cultural strength

Leadership development

Since 2012, they’ve done amazing things - supporting more than 80 current residents from 30+ communities and building a network of 400+ proud alumni.

Thank you for sharing your stories and inspiring us all!

Our graduate cohort recently teamed up with Anglicare’s Thread Together for a volunteer day.

Thread Together partners with fashion retailers to provide new clothing to people in need, helping to restore dignity and self-esteem. The service collects end-of-line, brand new stock and distributes it through a national network of registered charities and social service agencies.

Our team got to see firsthand how this program supports our local communities of Laverton, Leonora and Kalgoorlie.

Investing in our communities and empowering the next generation of leaders is how we ensure a lasting, positive legacy for the regions we call home.

Our Tropicana and Sunrise Dam Emergency Response Teams just crushed it at the The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia - CMEWA's Mines Surface Emergency Response Competition in Kalgoorlie!

We're only one day away from the The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia - CMEWA Surface Mine Emergency Response Competition!

Our teams from Tropicana and Sunrise Dam have been training hard to compete against 14 of the state's best at the Hannans North Tourist Mine in Kalgoorlie tomorrow and Sunday.

This event is a gruelling test of skill, teamwork, and composure in high-pressure environments.

We wish them all the best across the massive two days and have no doubt they will make us proud.

30/04/2026

We just wrapped up our first family day of 2026 at our Tropicana Gold Mine.

There is nothing quite like watching our team showing their loved ones exactly where the magic happens.

This month, we welcomed more than 100 family members for an exclusive look at life on site.

From the “wow” moments at the pit lookout to the thrill of exploring the massive mining fleet, it was a day to remember.

The highlights

· Getting up close with the mining equipment.

· Feeling the weight of a real gold bar.

· Fun and games back at the mine village.

We’re already counting down the days until we do it all again in July! 🗓️

A huge thank you to our incredible site administration teams and business partners Macmahon, National Jet Express, and Compass Group ESS for making this day so special for our families.
