At BY Group, our vision extends beyond the physical structures we create. We are committed to building sustainable employment pathways for Indigenous people by partnering with educational organisations who share our passion for cultural safety and community empowerment.

Collaborating with institutions like TAFE NSW and Western Sydney University has given us opportunities to support learning for students across New South Wales.

From designing dedicated Aboriginal Learning Spaces to providing high school students with their first industry certifications, our goal is to create an environment where Indigenous excellence can thrive: in the classroom and on the construction site.

Members of our leadership team at BY Group had the opportunity to celebrate the Heartbeat of Football Foundation’s 10 year Anniversary over the weekend.

Founded by accomplished sports journalist and broadcaster Andy Paschalidis, Heartbeat of Football Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to promote healthy hearts in sport through awareness, testing, education and research to achieve its mission: zero heart-related deaths on the sporting ground.

Over the past 10 years, their community impact includes:
▪️ Advocacy for NSW Government Local Sport Defibrillator Program which provided $6m in funding over 5 years to to assist sporting clubs across NSW in the purchase and maintenance of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
▪️ 550+ heart health awareness and testing days across Australian sporting grounds, community events, licensed clubs and workplaces. Over 24,000 people have been tested with more than 13,400 (57%) advised to see their GP.

The event brought together members of the sporting community to share stories and spread awareness about sudden cardiac arrest in sport.

Thank you to the team at the Heartbeat of Football Foundation for hosting a great evening. We look forward to seeing the continued positive impact in addressing heart disease on the sporting field.

One of our longest-standing partnerships at BY Group is with the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Program. This year we had the privilege of sponsoring and attending their Annual Fundraising Dinner.

Their mission to increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in Rugby connects strongly with us at BY Group. The sport is a powerful tool for cultural pride and building community connection.

Thank you to the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team for hosting a great event that will support opportunities and education to enrich the lives of young Indigenous peoples.

BY Group, in partnership with Hatanga Ltd, is upgrading the Police Maritime Workshop and adjacent wharf in Funafuti, Tuvalu as part of the Pacific Maritime Security Program, including 100A shore power to supply the Guardian Class Patrol Boats.

This project has commenced, the current focus is on the demolition and structural rebuilding of the workshop. The wharf upgrade works are set to commence mid-2026.

In partnership with Hatanga Ltd, BY Group has been involved in the internal and external refurbishment of the Australian High Commission, Vanuatu Residence in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

This project has allowed BY Group and Hatanga to work closely with local subcontractors and provided two of our Indigenous Apprentices the opportunity to travel overseas to Vanuatu for the first time to work on this project.

BY Group has commenced work on the upgrade of the Port Vila Central Police Station in Vanuatu in partnership with Hatanga Ltd.

This project represents an opportunity to enhance the service ability of the Vanuatu Police Force to support the Vanuatu community through a well-developed design under the Pacific Police Infrastructure Program (PPIP).

Earlier this month the Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, Hon Steve Whan officially opened the TAFE NSW Aboriginal Learning and Cultural Spaces in Queanbeyan.

BY Group was involved in the Design and Construction of this project across multiple TAFE NSW campuses, including Queanbeyan, Cooma, Shellharbour, Nowra and Wollongong.

These Aboriginal Learning and Cultural Spaces closely align with BY Group’s mission to be leaders in the development of Indigenous talent. We are proud to create infrastructure that directly supports improving access, participation and wellbeing for future generations of Indigenous students at TAFE NSW.
