You may have seen the large pile of illegally dumped waste around Newmans Creek recently.

Well, yesterday our team got sick of driving past it and watching it slowly scatter up and down the roadside, so they headed over with one of our trucks to clean up what they could, with the general waste compacted and prepared for landfill, while the timber and metal were separated for recycling. ♻️

We love our home, and it’s disgraceful to see our local environment treated like this. The team were more than happy to lend a hand and do their bit to clean it up.

Unfortunately, this kind of irresponsible behaviour doesn’t just damage the environment we all live and work in — it costs ratepayers money to clean up.

We all have a part to play in looking after our community. If you see someone illegally dumping waste, please report it to the Litter Hotline on 1300 135 513 or Tasmania Police on 131 444.

Let’s keep our community clean and look after the place we’re lucky enough to call home. 💚♻️

You might also spot one of our Managing Directors, Laura, who is currently training towards her heavy vehicle licence. While driving isn't part of her day-to-day role, we believe great leadership comes from understanding every aspect of the business. Experiencing the job firsthand helps us make our workplace safer, support our team more effectively, and better understand the challenges our customers face across a wide range of industries.

Did you know that nearly 75% of people who die by su***de in Australia are men, making it the leading cause of death for men aged 15-44 in Australia?

A large percentage of these men, over 45%, are the truck drivers who keep our shelves stocked, the tradies who build our communities, the farmers who feed our nation, and the emergency service workers who stand beside us in our darkest moments.

Yet many face long hours, isolation, financial pressure, physical strain, and repeated exposure to trauma—often without speaking about the weight they're carrying and the responsibility, sacrifice, and often burdens that only few may ever see.

Road & Rail Drivers and Machine Operators have a 42% HIGHER chance of death by su***de while Trades workers make up over 27% of the statistic. Our emergency service workers are 3 times more likely to have made suicidal plans and our farmers are also facing the challenge with 1 farmer losing the battle EVERY 10 DAYS!

The common thread here isn't weakness though—it's cumulative pressure.
Long shifts.
Financial stress.
Trauma.
Exhaustion.
Isolation.
And a culture that often tells men to "just get on with it."

Too many suffer alone in silence, so today we take a moment to think of the men who spend their lives serving others, providing for their families, and carrying the weight of their communities on their shoulders.

The strongest people among us are fighting battles no one can see and a conversation, a phone call, or a simple "I'm thinking of you" may mean more than you realise.

Jhy Oldham, the guy behind the name.

Jhy purchased Oldhams in 2024 and since then he has never been more grey, stressed and short of time.

He is the man we all call on when sh*ts hit the fan, somethings broken or we got ourselves stuck. You can guarantee regardless of the situation he will be smiling, his lust for life and positive attitude holds the team together.

Being a welder/fabricator by trade, then spending most of his career in maintenance there is little he cant do.

You'll usually find him somewhere in the workshop, out on the road or fishing 😉

Kim stayed on when we purchased the business and has become more like family.

He goes above and beyond for our customers, our company and us personally.

He is a man that always has a joke (just ask him 😉)
