An update from our North Rothbury project. We had to remove a concrete sleeper wall from both the front and back of the property that was done by a dodgy contractor. I highlighted just some of the defects, but the longer you looked, the more issues you found.

We replaced it with 2 of our quality sandstone walls, believe it or not these blocks are actually B grades. The difference it makes when you use a quality supplier.

Some before and afters of a job we completed in Charlestown. A new concrete path, couple of sets of sandstone steps, a concrete sleeper retaining wall, a sandstone retaining wall and then new turf. Completely changed this backyard.

I'll make an extended post later on, but here is a quick snapshot of our North Rothbury make over that had the dodgy concrete sleeper walls. We replaced them with our quality sandstone walls.

Today we aren't just removing a retaining wall, we are removing the memory of a bad experience of an unlicensed and dodgy contractor.

This concrete sleeper wall is the worst I've seen, and the more you look, the worse it gets. Everything from not being level, sleepers not lining up on levels, posts being different heights and sticking up, cut posts being exposed, sleepers cut and not supported, posts held together with liquid nails the list goes on.

We are replacing this with sandstone blocks so watch this space.

Licenced contractors can still be dodgy, but at least they have had to show that they have experience to get their licence. Always check references and photo's of past work, and where possible use licenced contractors.

This is what perfection looks like😍 these sandstone billets are machine cut and then split with a big hydraulic guillotine, and the colours....well they speak for themselves!

Something different that kept us busy through the rainy days in winter, we fabricated these aluminium handrails/ balustrade and steps. It matches in with the rest of the house quite well.

A bit of a snapshot of our Medowie job. 160t of dirt removed...140 blocks, 18 steps, and the end result of a sloped backyard turned into a usable space.
