At Proterra Waste, our team operates staffed waste facilities at Kingaroy, Nanango, Murgon, and Wondai, and we're here to help.

If you've got items that can't go to an unmanned transfer station, like tyres, furniture, mattresses, fridges, or commercial waste, visit these sites. Our team will point you to the right area so we can handle everything safely, recycle it, or dispose of it properly.

We also accept everyday household rubbish, and all our sites have dedicated areas for green waste and steel. A small fee may apply to some items to help cover responsible processing costs.

Not sure where something goes? Ask one of our friendly team before you unload. We'd much rather help than have you guess.

🚮 Utilising Council Waste Facilities

South Burnett Regional Council would like to remind residents that when disposing of waste at the unmanned transfer stations it is important to dispose of waste correctly.

The transfer stations are designed to handle domestic everyday waste, and in some instances green and steel waste. Items such as tyres, bulky furniture, mattresses, fridges and commercial waste are not accepted at unmanned transfer stations.

These items are required to go to either Kingaroy, Nanango, Wondai or Murgon for proper disposal and recycling. There is a small fee for doing so however this covers the cost of recycling these items and reduces their impact on current landfill capacities. Using our transfer stations correctly to dispose of waste ensures that they can be efficiently managed and kept clean and safe for residents that do not have kerbside collection.

Good morning, Mundubbera!

We received 18 mm of rain overnight, so things are looking a little muddy around the bulk stockpiles at the Mundubbera Waste Facility.

The good news is that access to the bins is still available. Please take extra care while onsite and follow the directions of our friendly team. A little patience and a careful step will help keep everyone safe.

Have You Wiped It?

With International E-Waste Day coming up on 14 October, it is a good time to clear out those old devices gathering dust at home or work.

Before recycling your device, back up important files, sign out of connected accounts and follow the manufacturer's recommended secure data-erasure process. Where appropriate, complete a factory reset before recycling.

There is real value in getting this right. E-waste is sometimes called “urban mining” because old devices can be richer in valuable metals than mined ore. In Australia, about $430 million worth of materials was lost to landfill with e-waste in 2019, even though more than 90% of a computer or television can be recycled.

That's a wrap for ! ☀️🏖️

Over the past three days at the IPWEA Queensland & Northern Territory Annual Conference on the Sunshine Coast, we celebrated our incredible industry amidst sunshine and sandy shores.

Belly and Brian triumphed once again, winning the "Best Paper Award" for their LiDAR presentation! 🏆 Belly also participated in the thought-provoking debate, "Olympics 2032: An Engineering Legacy That Happens to Include Sport?" We took the opportunity to join the Mooloolaba Foreshore Revitalisation Project technical tour and engaged in many rich conversations throughout the event.

It was rewarding to connect with both established leaders and emerging talent. It’s clear that our industry is thriving, and it’s a privilege to be part of it! Thank you to everyone who made this conference a success.

We can't wait to return next year, inspired and ready for more!

Day two at the IPWEA Queensland & Northern Territory Annual Conference!

Today, David Bell and Brian Wood presented "Using LiDAR to Give Higher Accuracy to Condition Assessment," and it was a great session. Photos alone can pick up some road defects, but adding LiDAR lets us detect and measure issues like rutting, shoving, edge drop, and depression and heave.

They also showed Desktop SURVAI, a tool built for regional councils to assess road condition and plan works, with easy exports to Excel, GIS, and asset valuation software.

Day one of the IPWEA Queensland & Northern Territory Annual Conference is officially underway, and the Proterra Group team is all set up and ready to mingle!

You'll find us at two stands this year. Pete and Brian are holding down the Proterra Group stall, while Paul and Spence are on hand at the Proterra Waste stall. Come say hello, grab some merch, and chat with the team about what we've been working on.

Big mention to this year's MC, Richard, who's been keeping the room entertained with a few well-timed jokes woven through his commentary. The Emerging Leaders session also gave us a different take on things. Great start to the conference all round.
