A very special and humbling moment in my Jiu-Jitsu journey — receiving my Black Belt from Peter de Been and Max de Been.
To have many years training under and learning from Peter, a 6th Degree Black Belt under Carlos Gracie Jr. and one of the pioneers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Australia, and from Max de been 3rd Degree Black Belt and accomplished competitor, has been an incredible privilege.

To now receive my Black Belt from them and become part of the lineage of Gracie → de Been is something I’m extremely proud of, grateful for, and will always respect.

I’ve been fortunate enough to coach both kids and adults for the past few years, and this next chapter is something I’m really looking forward to. I’ll continue to train, compete and coach, while continuing to learn and improve every day.

Being able to help others progress, share what has been passed down to me, and hopefully inspire the next generation of Jiu-Jitsu practitioners is something I’m very humbled to be able to do.

The Black Belt isn’t the end of the journey — it’s the beginning of another chapter.

Very grateful to Peter and Max for their guidance, knowledge and belief in me and to all my training partners for the hundreds of hours of training very grateful! Thank you de Been 100% Jiu Jitsu | First BJJ Academy Australia Max de Been Peter de Been
