Our team and I look forward to working with you (not just FOR you) on your next project. Action over promises - that’s how projects are delivered. At Hurst Constructions Queensland we know words mean nothing in the property industry unless they’re backed by proactive, measurable action. In our game, delivering projects ‘on time, within budget and to specifications’ is the baseline, not a selling p

oint. Delivering more than bricks and mortar to spec, Hurst Constructions Queensland makes a point of understanding our clients’ vision, context and commercial aims, not just their budget, which is why we consistently deliver projects that make commercial sense. Ultimately, we’re as committed to seeing your project to completion as you are; we won’t squabble over variation costs, prioritise profit over quality or rely on software when a site visit will deliver a better outcome. Experience matters, but relevant experience matters more.

Building in North Queensland isn't the same as building in Brisbane.

On paper, projects can look very similar.

The reality on site is often very different.

In North Queensland, weather, freight and distance can influence a project long before construction begins.

These aren't occasional challenges. They're everyday realities.

That's why local knowledge can make the difference between a project that runs smoothly and one that doesn't.

Not just understanding the project, but understanding the region, the people, the supply chains and the conditions that shape delivery.

At Hurst Constructions QLD, North Queensland isn't a market we fly into.

It's where we work, where our relationships are built and where our team delivers every day.

When your kids grow up in the same community you’re building in, shortcuts don’t make much sense.

That’s one of the biggest differences with local builders.

For us, these projects aren’t just another job before moving onto the next region. The schools, retail centres, industrial facilities and community spaces being built across North Queensland become part of the places our own families live and grow up in too.

They’re the places we visit on weekends. The cafés and retailers we take our kids to. The schools local families rely on. The facilities the community continues using long after construction is finished.

That creates a different level of accountability.

You care more about the long-term outcome. About doing what you said you would do. About maintaining relationships. About handing over projects you’re genuinely proud to put your name to.

Because in regional communities, reputation is built over time. People remember who communicated well, who solved problems properly and who delivered when it counted.

MICHELLE BROOKE | PROJECT ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

Specialises in: Commercial and Industrial

Why we have her: Michelle is a steady hand across both project administration and accounts. Quietly spoken and highly reliable, she’s someone the team leans on to keep things accurate, consistent, and under control.
With a strong understanding of both the industry and local market, Michelle brings a level of detail that doesn’t miss much. She has a knack for picking up discrepancies early and making sure things are right before they become a problem, which makes a real difference behind the scenes.

Off the clock:
Outside of work, Michelle is just as disciplined. A competitive athlete, she completed her 7th Head of the Yarra in 2024, an 8km rowing event through Melbourne, with her crew charging from 13th to finish 3rd.

These days you’re more likely to find her in the garden with her dogs or at the gym. She’s also known for her seriously good salads, though she’d be the last to say it herself. Competitive by nature, that mindset still shows up in everything she does.

Some causes are bigger than work.

Every month in Australia, 86 children are diagnosed with cancer.

That’s 86 families whose lives change overnight.

This March our team is again getting behind 86K for a Cure, joining thousands of others across the country to help raise funds for childhood cancer research and support.

Across the month we’ll collectively cover the kilometres together as a team, supporting a cause that sits close to our hearts.

Because when it comes down to it, family comes first.

If you’d like to support the cause, donations can be made here:

Thank you to everyone who gets behind initiatives like this. Every bit of support makes a difference.

We don’t build houses anymore.

But in 2015, we did.

This coastal residence was part of our early portfolio. Designed for its setting, anchored into granite and finished in timber.

Since then, the business has evolved deliberately into commercial and industrial construction across North Queensland.

The scale has changed. The commitment to doing the job properly has not.

Martin would have preferred to quietly wrap up and move into retirement without any fuss — but the contribution he’s made deserves to be acknowledged.

Through a period of rapid growth, his experience, consistency and practical approach have been a constant, helping shape not just the projects delivered, but how we go about our work.

His influence will be felt well beyond the jobs he’s worked on — although there may be a few more coffee and biscuit runs in the lunchroom.

Thank you, Martin, for everything you’ve contributed over the years, and for the friendship along the way.

Wishing you all the very best in a well-earned retirement.

PROJECT COMPLETION | BUSY SCHOOLS TOWNSVILLE

This job was all about coordination.

Tight sequencing, plenty of moving parts, and trades working side by side to meet a fixed deadline. The level of programming across this project really showed in the final stages.

Getting it over the line was a genuine team effort, resulting in a facility ready for students to start this week.

Credit to Dave and Martin for driving it through, and a big thank you to all the trades involved. Great to see so many people working together to deliver a strong result.

When everything lines up, it shows.
