Not every project looks the same, and that's one of the things we enjoy most.

Our team recently fabricated and installed this custom lifting stage at Unity Hall Hotel in Balmain. Designed to raise and lower smoothly, the stage is a unique piece of engineering that showcases the versatility of our workshop and site crews.

While projects like this aren't our everyday scope, we enjoy taking on new challenges and applying our skills in different ways. A great result delivered by the team.

Yesterday, we fired up the BBQ to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone, Booko’s retirement after 35 years with Roddy Engineering.

For more than three decades, Booko has been a valued part of our team, bringing dedication, knowledge, hard work, and plenty of great stories along the way. His contribution to Roddy Engineering has helped shape who we are today, and his presence will certainly be missed.

Thank you, Booko, for 35 years of commitment, friendship, and service. We wish you all the very best for this next chapter and hope retirement brings plenty of time for the things you enjoy most.

Meet Lachy 🔧
Lachy recently joined the team as one of our new apprentices and is already getting stuck into life in the workshop. After seeing others working in the trade, he thought it looked like something that could really interest him, so he decided to give it a go and start his apprenticeship.

This year, Lachy is most excited about building his skills and gaining more hands-on experience. In particular, he’s looking forward to learning MIG and TIG welding, as well as getting involved in more fabrication work and building things from the ground up.

One of Lachy’s main goals for the year is to successfully get through his first year of TAFE while continuing to develop his practical skills on the job. Like every apprentice, it’s a big year of learning, and he’s keen to take in as much as he can.

Looking further ahead, Lachy hopes that in five years he’ll have completed his trade and be fully qualified. He’s also interested in the possibility of working overseas, using the skills he’s learning now to explore opportunities around the world.

It’s great to see the next generation coming through the trade, and we’re proud to support Lachy as he begins his career in welding and metal fabrication.
