Thinking about a career change into agricultural drone work? 🚁

We train you to apply, with hands-on agricultural drone training designed to take you from your current job towards becoming a skilled aerial applicator.

What does the pathway include?
✅ RePL foundation training with type-specific endorsements for 7 kg, 25 kg and 150 kg aircraft
✅ AROC aviation radio communication training
✅ Manufacturer type training on agricultural aircraft
✅ Practical field training and on-property setup
✅ Mission planning, chemical handling and accurate record keeping

Reported indicative day rates of $2,000–$3,000 are advertised for some agricultural drone work. Rates vary depending on the operation, location, equipment, experience and client requirements. This is not a guarantee of income or employment.

Important Australian compliance reminder:
Property owners need the appropriate RePL for their aircraft category. Contractors providing drone services to others generally also need an ReOC. A RePL alone does not authorise every operation. Always check current CASA and relevant chemical-use requirements before operating.

Ace Aviation is CASA-approved under CASA.ReOC.1421 and has trained more than 4,000 students. Students may also access Altitude+ benefits and the DroneWork network. Training does not guarantee employment.

A 10% deposit allows eligible students to start their drone pilot training course immediately, subject to approval and course terms.

🌾 Thinking about a career in agricultural drone work?

Skilled operators are in demand, with reported indicative day rates of $2,000–$3,000 for some ag drone work. Rates vary by operation, location, equipment, experience and client requirements.

⚠️ This is not a guarantee of income or employment.

What actually supports professional rates?
✅ A RePL appropriate to the aircraft and relevant weight category
✅ Strong operational discipline and safety planning
✅ Accurate record keeping
✅ The ability to run equipment reliably on a client’s property
✅ Understanding of airspace, NOTAMs, weather and site risks

If you provide drone services to other businesses or landowners, you will generally also need an ReOC.

A RePL is the foundation for professional drone work. Ace Aviation is a CASA-approved training provider, CASA.ReOC.1421, with more than 4,000 students, Altitude+ benefits and access to the DroneWork network.

Training can build the skills and credentials to pursue opportunities, but training does not guarantee employment.

Ready to explore drone training in Australia? Visit aaa.edu.au or call 1300 336 366.

Always check current CASA requirements and all applicable agricultural, chemical, property and workplace rules before operating.

Attention all Australian remote pilots! 🚁

Our September 2026 market review shows commercial drone work is becoming repeatable, contracted and data-driven, not one-off flights:

⛏️ RocketDNA (ASX: RKT): around AUD $1m in BMA purchase orders for autonomous Bowen Basin coal-mine operations through at least October 2026.

🛰️ Aerometrex (ASX: AMX): $600,000+ Tamboran B2 contract for high-density LiDAR and imagery across about 7,500 km² of the NT’s Beetaloo Sub-basin.

⚙️ RemSense (ASX: REM): about A$365,230 to deploy virtualplant across two Woodside Energy offshore platforms in Bass Strait.

Winning and holding work like this takes a ReOC organisation; documented procedures and safety management; trained, current crews; maintenance and continuing airworthiness; CASA approvals beyond the excluded category, including BVLOS where required; and reliable client reporting.

The career signal is strong: RePL + AROC + operational discipline. Australian mining, energy, infrastructure and survey clients need professionals who can deliver safely and consistently.

Excluded category reminder: register and accredit; keep required records; fly daylight/VLOS only; maximum 120 m; separate from people; no populous areas; one aircraft at a time; safe operating practices. Mine sites, offshore assets and broad surveys require appropriate CASA approvals.

Which sector will create the most Australian drone jobs over the next five years? Comment below.

Attention Australian aviation professionals and future remote pilots! 🇦🇺

Toll Uncrewed Systems and Shield AI’s V-BAT 5.3 have arrived in Australia and begun their first operational flight missions in-country. A significant signal that Australia’s uncrewed aviation sector is maturing.

Designed as a VTOL platform, V-BAT 5.3 can support maritime and littoral surveillance, tactical overwatch, emergency response and persistent ISR. Shield AI’s growing Melbourne autonomy capability adds another important dimension: locally developed skills, operational discipline and career pathways across Australia’s advanced aviation ecosystem.

What does this mean for remote pilots?
✈️ Stronger demand for CASA-aligned training and safety culture
📡 RePL + AROC knowledge for professional communications and coordination
📋 ReOC organisations requiring trained, disciplined crews
🚁 Pathways beyond recreational flying into specialised operations

Our review: capability growth only works when supported by competent people, documented procedures, airspace awareness and continuous practice.

Start building your professional pathway with Ace Aviation. A 10% deposit allows you to start the drone pilot training course immediately. Call 1300 336 366. Subject to course terms.

Compliance reminder: Check current CASA rules, permissions, NOTAMs, airspace restrictions and local conditions before every flight. A RePL alone does not authorise every operation.

Excluded-category reminder: Never conduct operations over people, in prohibited or restricted areas, near emergency response activity or beyond your approved operating privileges without the required authorisations.

🌏 Beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations are moving towards more standardised, repeatable approval pathways, and Australian operators should be paying attention.

The UK CAA’s version 2 of CAP3015 provides clearer guidance on demonstrating detect-and-avoid capability for BVLOS missions. EASA has also outlined a simplification package introducing new standard scenarios for BVLOS and similar operations, reducing the need for bespoke approvals.

🔎 What does this signal for Australia?
CASA is moving in a similar direction through AusSORA and the broad-area BVLOS trial. More harmonised international frameworks can help Australian operators understand the evidence, documentation and safety cases likely to be expected as the industry scales.

The fundamentals do not change:
✅ Approved procedures and robust risk assessments
✅ Trained crews and clear responsibilities
✅ Airspace awareness, monitoring and documentation
✅ No assumption that another operator’s approval applies to you

⚠️ BVLOS is outside the excluded category and requires the appropriate CASA approvals.

Excluded-category reminder: registration and accreditation, required records, daylight operations only, VLOS, maximum 120 m, separation from people, no populous areas, one aircraft at a time, and safe operating practices are all essential.

Would standardised approval pathways help your organisation scale drone operations in Australia? Share your view below.
