These canisters are grease pots! Each one is strapped under a Boer War or WW1 wagon and probably every day wagons of that era…The grease pot was filled with..duh.. with grease. When the axle of said wagon started to squeak… there was grease to stop the said squeak .. You know.. “ The squeaky wheel gets the grease!”
These ten grease pots are orf to a wagon and war museum south of Sydney. There will be no noise from those wagons.. Easy Greasy!

Somewhere in time between 1946 to 1965 this fireman’s helmet was made. When the helmet arrived to Tinkers World, it was very much dented and bent. The chin strap rings were off the leather straps. The helmet was very much oxidised with some fire damage. According to the Fire Brigade museum in Canberra, this particular helmet was owned by the fireman # 3846.. with a head size of 7.
After a light planishing with a small hammer to remove the larger dents and creases then a sanding with 300 grit sand paper, the helmet was buffed to a high lustre. Usually all the helmets were to remain bright with much elbow grease and Brasso … we sprayed the helmet with a clear lacquer to keep the surface from tarnish.
Tinkers World then made a head stand out of galvabond…
This historic piece shows its place in time with a proud stance honouring Brisbane Fire Brigade.

Customer enquired if I could make an aeroplane letter box. He was in no hurry.. and I could make any aeroplane I wanted. The customer lives near Amberley near the Australian Air Force Base. I originally thought of the old DC3 aircraft but the proportions were too big. I finally looked up Australian WW2 Australian Air planes.Thank you Mr Google! This is a representation of a Boomerang CIC used in the early part of WW2. Hope you like the pics.Customer seems happy.
