Well at first glance these two oil coolers look almost identical, it's not until you put them side by side that you realise things are not quite right! So yesterday I was so pleased to have received my package after two weeks of being parked up, well I thought, just a simple mounting job some fresh oil, radiator flush and we're done. Wow wasn't I mistaken, after removing it from the packaging I realized things we're not going to go as planned my new oil cooler was about 30% bigger than the one I was replacing, sure the sealing face was the same, but was this thing even going to fit between my engine block and chassis rail? Let alone mount to the oil filter manifold, and how far down is it going to hang? Well after zip tying it up and checking all the clearances I decided that it was viable to proceed with the fitment of the new cooler. So off I went to get new oil filters some mounting hardware and new hoses. My first attempt at replicating the original mounting strap with cyclone bracing strap ended quite badly. and eventually I decided to use a four inch muffler clamp, after about three hour of gining around, I was finally happy with the end result. Today's job was to fit it all up change the oil, flush the radiator and fire up. Well I'm pleased to say my mission has been completed, and I'm looking forward to racking up some more kilometers. Will give her a wash and a grease on the weekend and ready for work next week! Woo Hoo! Happy Days!
